Yield Question

Hi All,

I have a question about the best setup for the best yield. I have a 400W cool tube in a 2x4x4 space using soil.

I can either do 4, 3 gallon pots and veg a bit longer. Or, I could use 6, 2 gallon pots and veg a little less before flower.

Which is the better setup for yield? What would the advantages be of just using 4, 3 gallon pots?

Thanks for any help guys.

If your using a 400W you don't want to let your plants get too tall (the 400W HPS light doesn't penetrate as much as a 600 or 1000).

Thanks for the advice. So you think I should use the 2 gallons and make sure they dont get to tall eh? I am just finishing up a run on 4 3 gallon pots and am pleased so far but will tell in a few weeks at harvest time. I am thinking I can get more with 2 more plants.

Well, now if you do the 2 gallon pots you will be able to directly compare. How tall did you let the ones in the 3 gallon pots get?

Sorry for the late reply. I let the ones in the 3 gallon pots get around 10 inches before I flowered. I had to do some MAJOR LST on a few of them during flower and with that they were about 3 feet tall. I am on week 7 now and they are fattening up nicely. I learned a lot from my last grow and started topping/LST right after my clones rooted. Took a while, but now I have 6 bushes in 2 gallon pots vs 4 vertical type plants in the 3 gallons. Yea, I guess I will just have to see. I wonder though if someone has tried experiments with same techniques in 2 vs 3 gallon pots. Thanks,
