2014 - Fashion Predictions....

For the last 70 years there has been, essentially, two major trends...
The 'smart, businesslike' conformity of the 1950's - which was used as the theme for many of the variations we wore in the 'cash and cocaine'80's
and the 'laid back' anti-establishment casualwear of the Hippy Dippy 60's, the 'let's see if we can catch 4 different types of crabs, all at once' 70's and, to a lesser extent the' I think I'll spend my entire student grant on five weeks of ecstasy fuelled insanity' 1990's.
Uniforms were popular in the 1940's with everything from leather trenchcoats to striped pyjama's, infesting most of Europe for the first half of the decade.
The 'noughties' were, much like the 90's, a decade of minor fads with 'blink and you'll miss 'em' 80' Revivals and other inconsequential 'mini-trends'.

2014 is the year when the movers and shakers of fashion finally stop limiting their 'retro' influences to the 20th Century and style with an older pedigree will finally be seen again on our high streets

The ELIZABETHAN RUFF

This 16th Century adornment has been threatening to make a comeback for several centuries.
Fashionistas' predict that the streets of New York, Tokyo and Kabul will be crowded with societies A list all wearing RUFFS.

The STOVE PIPE HAT
Owing it's re-emergence into popularity almost exclusively to Daniel Day Lewis, the Stove Pipe Top Hat is aboiut to be a common sight on streets and parks for the first time in 100 years.

Particularly enjoyed by the shorter man, Stove Pipe Hats will add a touch of panache to any occasion.

The CODPIECE
A common sight amongst the trendsetters of 16th Century Europe the CODPIECE is designed to accentuate the manliness of the wearer.

Although the Codpiece always retained a cult following in places such as Amsterdam and San Francisco, the Codpiece will once again take its place in the mainstream.
By the end of 2014 the Codpiece will be commonly seen on Doctors, school teachers and men of every profession.

and finally...

17th Century WIGS
Nothing shouts CONFIDENT! like a man in a long, flowing wig.
Extremely popular for over a century with everyone from Louis 16th to the Duke of Marlborough, these wigs are on the verge of a MAJOR COMEBACK!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:De_Vermont-Largilliere.jpg
Originally only within reach of the deepest pockets, technological advancements have ensured that every working man can afford his very own wig!
Expected to be especially popular in the South Westeern parts of the USA, mostly so in Arizona.. The WIG will return with maximum force.

My prediction is that in 2014, people will continue to buy stuff they don't like to impress people they don't like.

How the hell am I going to show off my faux fur merkin wearing a codpiece?

Maybe a 3D printed one with lots of scratching room?

I have no doubt that there were probably dozens of pictures taken of this, uh, thing (BTW, NEVER marry a performance artist), but they had to pick this one?

Those of us who have (married performance artists) can immediately recognize the shit-eating grin on the Mom's face. This was her idea. The breasts just prove it.

Some truly horrible outfits, guys.
Well done.

I wish I had the guts to walk around in a PVC gimp suit.
I'd allow the ball gag to drop loose, in a casual manner
but arseless chaps would NEVER be apart of my wardrobe
They lack class.

I disagree. First, all Chaps are assless. It's the wearer's choice of no pants that's classless - not the chaps. I wear Underoos under mine and they look plenny classy. I tell ya.
