This is my second real grow.Last one i noticed these (what i thought were fruit flies) flying around the tent.Just 4 or 5.whatever i thought. This grow i ran out of one pot of soil, so i used one from the previous. Dam...I this week noticed those little(excuse me)those little fucker's and their larva in the top layer of my soil:fire::cuss::bigjoint::bigjoint:..I thought i hate flipping bugs bad...phobia bad!I thought im going to try something I know will work because it killed lice in my girl..she caught from kindergarden...ewww...:finger:so i went and purchased 100% Tea tree oil..mellaluca afernoil. My girls are clean...very clean...so is my tent!! I am ocd about the cleanliness!!REALLY. I look in it all night during lights o n.every friggin hour, for mold bugs leaves that have fallen, dirt that flew around.I still see these litte f'rs.

I think i will try this because i would rather start over than have any bugs in my bud.:cuss:..If this kills the plants ... start over..I added 15 drops of pure tea tree oil,
to a spray bottle of distilled water. And sprayed the top layers of all the 9plants soil with it.not too much the first time, as i really didnt want to choke the ladies.did that , next night seem less, did it again more this time.Almost gone.Tonight isee they r a few more that were born on top of the soil, but they can not fly. They look slow , squirmy, and dum..HEHE i poisoned them...Plus the plants are totally unaffected...FOR REAL..notta droopy leaf not any sign of stress what so ever.:bigjoint::bigjoint::finger:;-)..So i got out the tea tree and sprayed down those buggers that were born and they croaked instantly.:leaf::-P. since first spraying they were not flying at all just hovering on top.so i think it stuns them right away then poisens the ones starting to be born in the soil.

Tea tree oil is an a natural plant derived pesticide.used for all kinds of ailments, pests, diseases.all kinds of uses.I am growing..big bud x northern lights, vannilla kush, violator kush, pineapple chunk,(who seems to b the most sensitive of the bunch)but is unaffected. I have cherry berry, purple diesle, afghan kush x skunk, b-13 medical, and wonder skunk, all fems.

so if you have what you think r fruit flies..(GNATS). and plants that are tolerant or like my strains then tea tree oil worked for me and did not kill the ladies.it is a tree oil.

HAPPY GROWING.....JUST MY THOUGHTS ON GNATS>bongsmilie:sleep::peace: AND HOW TO KILL THOSE BUGGERS!!

I heard that putting a cup of coffee in your grow room/tent will help and attract them, and ill be damned it works great.

Put an inch to two inches of masonry sand on the top of your soil and your good to go.

On another note, do you know how tea tree oil might effect your soil pH? Just food for thought. But sand works wonders
