It can work quite well for vegging. Go easy on it at first. Also, if you're using pre-fertilized soil (feeds for X months) be extra careful starting out. Don't feed every watering, try every third. You can always up it if needed. I've had good results with it. It's cheap and easy to get. In spite of my past success with it, I've moved to a more sustainable, organic style this grow, and from here on out if I can. We'll see how it goes. G/l!

absolutely not!..buy nutes for cannabis only..
I grew plenty of cannabis with miraclegro as a teen. Works just fine. Cannabis only nutrients are a joke. Cannabis is a plant. All plants require the same basic elements.
Light, water, nutrients and co2. Some require more or less than others. Simply getting "cannabis only" nutrients doesn't insure you a big bountiful harvest. Claims that something is cannabis only is a joke. Yeah even Advanced Nutrients. However knowing what any plant needs at a particular time in it's lifecycle is key. Knowing the signs your plant shows you is important. Any deficiency or over abundance can be seen through physical appearance. Think of a plant like a chameleon. The plant can change it's physical shape and color depending on the level of the elements it is receiving. More or less nutrients, light intensity and spectrum, CO2 enricment and to what levels, drought or floods. Finding a good balanced nutrient regimen is daunting and takes trial and error. It's really hard to just duplicate someone else garden and results. So yes you can. Are there better options? Of course. Are there worse definitely. MiracleGro is a synthetic based nutrient that works well on a variety of plants. If this is all you can get or afford do it.

here's the thing..in 2 months he'll be back screaming because his plants are fucked up (and burnt to shit) and then someone will say "who the fuck told you to use MG"?

noobs should stick to and master soil and basic grow technique with cannabis type nutes before moving on to "mixing and matching" nutes..btw MG is far from CHEAP..

I was wondering if Miraclgro tomato plant food does any good?

N 18-P 18-K 21
MG for Tomatoes works fine. I have grown many a bumper crop using it.
Keep in mind that less is more...do not use more than 1 full teaspoon per gallon of water (less for seedlings and smaller immature plants).
No worries whatsoever as long as you do not overdose.

yup and the teaspoon will turn into a tablespoon and a drop will turn into 1ml:wink:

Schuylaar is right about this. 80% of the time when some noob comes on here with burned plants we ask if they used MG and the answer is "Well they said it would work..."
Burn is from using too much. You can do that with any nutrient. Proper tools help with that. pH and ppm meters.

That's because it does work. Many people have used it. The noobs problem is they think more is better than less is more! It's not the nutrient its the grower.

I laugh at people who go spend hundreds of dollars on a full nutrient line up from any one brand thinking they will be able to grow excellent cannabis. I can dump whatever on my plants and it can go well or shitty. Knowing what I am doing and understanding the needs of any plant is what produces good consistent results over and over again.

HUGE, GIGANTIC CAVEAT REGARDING MG FERTS!!!
WARNING...

Never, ever, ever, use it with ANY type of soil blend with fertilizer in it.
MG soils suck like a hoover and would not use it for my sunflowers or rutabagas!

Is this a water soluble time release formula? If so, don't use it if you plan to do more than a couple feedings. It just keeps releasing so easy to compound issues and makes corrections difficult.

Get very specific feeding instructions from someone who uses this stuff successfully. If you follow the label instructions you'll probably burn them up.

Personally, I wouldn't touch the stuff. Good luck!

I agree- there is no such thing as a plant-specific fertilizer. As someone who makes and sells fertilizer for fun and profit: it's all marketing.

MiracleGro will work fine, but there are much higher quality nutrients out there.... *ahem* ... that perform better and produce consistent results.

Okay.
It is NOT a time release formula.
Use it only with soil mixes that have no nutes blended in.(I use ProMixBX)
Begin feeding seedlings with apx 1/8 to 1/4 TEASPOON pr gallon.
As the plants mature you can increase the dosage to 1/2 to 3/4 TEASPOON pr gallon water.
Only mature outdoor plants in containers should receive 1 full TEASPOON pr gallon.
If you are growing indoors under 400w or higher HIDs keep feeding at no more than 3/4 TEASPOON pr gallon.
Good Luck!
