I remember back in the 70's we were taught the Japanese harvested whales for food and oil for lamps.
I guess they never heard of electricity in the 70's.

They like 'fresh' food and will gut a fish live, cool it's head and boil the body.
It's a big thrill to see the fish gasping for air while you eat it.

They eat domesticated pets when hungry.
Hang a dog in a tree and beat it until it hemorrhages.
More blood in the muscle makes it tasty.

The Japanese are smart people, just behind in many ways.

I think it's worth remembering that Japan has never been rich in fossil energy. The other bigs each had coal or oil or both.

Wasn't suggesting that US farmers should grow rice, but you are aware that some Asians eat a lot of it? And you say that the land (in mountainous regions) can't be successfully worked and yet, it is. I got the bag of rice to prove it.

Also, was wrong about the relative size of subsidies in NYC. Manhattan farmers only got $880k in 2010. But it still is funny that the Rockefellers have received over $330k on a $500 per day fly fishing resort. It was late, I was shooting from the hip.

most cultures have this mentality. It's just more of the civilized cultures put restrictions on over fishing etc. nowadays.

Japan is one of the few that couldn't care less it seems. Been this way for centuries and hasn't changed.

From what I know on the subject they have a "fuck you i'ma do what I want" mentality. With little regard to how this effects things like species extinction etc. A very selfish culture imo....but americans are the most selfish right? not so much.

Sorry. Gotta defend South Park. About six years ago I went to a political-minded confrence in which they were speakers - in Amsterdam

The primary activity of this conference was occupying the entire outdoor patio of one of the Greenhouse locations for several days. I found them very intelligent. They were always very nice. Other participants were the Whole Foods founders and Travelocity founders. Those people carried their original gnome (well, one of six original gnomes - it started as a goof) with them, it sat in the middle of our table at the Greenhouse. Outstanding event.

Funny side note. One day Trey Parker was conspicuously late in appearing at the Greenhouse. When asked about him, Stone mentioned that Parker stayed up until morning playing a new online game. Later Parker showed up all excited about World of Warcraft. Everybody got real stoned and talked about it. Shortly afterwards, the epic WOW South Park episode came out. I felt like a little part of it.

I would never get high with a Fox News person. I'll pretty much defend anybody I've ever gotten high with.

Although I did not form my opinion off southpark I dont see it as bad if I did. They are comical yes but also their satires are very truthful. Atleast thst my opinion..best episode was the Family Guy episode..fucking nailed family guy so bad. South Park is the thinking mans family guy.

Capitalization, punctuation, spelling, and knowing what you are actually talking about would go a long way in dispelling the (apparently true) urban legend that farmers are, on the whole, a much less educated group. And, using those basic skills, along with not insulting constantly, would probably give a bit more credence to your argument.


(And, I am very aware that there are a number of very intelligent and educated farmers out there... The above just happened to appoint himself the "voice of the farmers.")
