So what's everybody useing for trimming scissors ??

What makes a good pair good, and a bad pair bad ??

Im looking to pick up something that will last me a lifetime / I dont mind giving the occasional sharping

Im guessing the type with the spring that automaticaly opens back up are almost mandatory ?

I notice some are useing Fiskars stuff , How are they ? I own a few fiskars axe's and I have no complaints

I like my spring loaded Fiskars.
They can do a job on your fingers too.

Getting a feel for them or whatever type is important and only come with experience.
You learn to feel when the snip is too hard and you cut into the bud.

I think I paid about $15.00 for mine at Lowes.
Good for trimming growing plants, taking basic clones and chopping up dried bud.

I also use the spring loaded Fiskars, I've tried some cheaper, off brands, and they sucked. I picked up a pair at the DG one time cos they were on sale for like a buck. I threw them away. When I'm harvesting, I keep a solo cup half full of alcohol and keep my fiskars in it, like scissors at the barber shop.

So far so good and I scrape them with a razor in between plants for hash balls.
Sharp for a few years now though I just grow for myself.
6-8 plants per harvest.

I can deal with no spring action, and barber scissors last forever.

Love em'!

I used non spring loaded for along time with no problem, its not bad as long as they aren't huge scissors your trying to use. I would think the barbers scissors would be pretty nice. When I lost my old ones, I bought the spring loaded fiskers if you look around you can find them for $10. I've never had a pair wear out or get dull on me in the last5 years I've been using them. I've got about 3 pairs now for various reasons( loose one then find it later after you buy a new pair), but I believe one of those is still the original I bought.

Do you have to periodically sharpen them?
Or have they retained enough of an edge to remain effective?

I've never sharpened them at all. I clean them with ISO or butter which ever I am using at the moment, and thats it. I've even scraped them off before with steal if I wanted to smoke the scissor hash. I also use them as dabbers if the need arises while I'm trimming :).

I have three pair. One pair of Fiskars, one pair labeled Gro or something like that and they are black and green, and I have a pair of cuticle scissors. I like the black and green pair the best. I think I may have gotten them off eBay.

Fiskers makes a a Titanium tip spring loaded scissor. They say its titanium nitride coated to hold its edge better. I paid the same price as the regular Fiskers and I really like them. Only used them for one harvest so far.

yea i saw that, but the coating is over stainless steel , so once the coating wears off you are left with just the SS , They also dont give any specks on the SS the type or hardness ??

I like the idea of the barber shears , I think I will make them work

fiskars micro tips work well. I keep 3 pairs handy when im trimming a lot of bud. I also use a plastic clothes pin to hold the stems while I trim. It keeps from having to wear gloves and helps with cramping hands.
