Can I grow Kratom, at home ?

I like Kratom , for an occasional buzz .

It's legal, and not " addictive, just a bit Dependacy issued, if you over do.........(weedlike )

I know its a tropical tree, in the coffee family, usually grows in S E Asia..........

Indigenous to Thailand .

It grows naturally , but Thailand outlawed it , 7 yrs ago, because it cut into the tax revenues , the Opiates brought the government.

I'de love to try and grow a Kratom tree, but have no idea, how to start.

Chicago weather may be my biggest obstacle.

edit; after googling, I have learned a bit more..........I may give this a try, if I can manage to get viable seeds.

I had a little Kratom plantling years ago, and sure you can grow it, it's slow growing of course, and loke coffee can take years to get to a decent size. My plant dropped all it's leaves when I overwatered it, and then died, possed me off considering it was $80 for a seedling, but live and learn right.

Well, not really, since I didn't order another plant, so I didn't get the chance to "hone" my leet Kratom cultivating skillz.

Basically, you'll need to provide it with SE asian rainforest humidity and heat, as well as intense light for it to thrive, and it's a looomg grow, but you certainly can yessums.

Fuck it yknow I had all these plants. Ephedra, Kratom, two kinds of Khat plants, Salvia Divinorum. Moving state I had to leave them behind, and being potted outside in a cool/temperate environment they just epicfailed Both Kratom and Salvia Divinorum ate illegal now, so I can't even reorder more, and that's the bit pisses me off the most! Now I can grow anything, I don't have the species!

You can still grow it in a cold place indoors, bit you'd have to dedicate a grow room to it: give it a nice 600w MH, humidifier, CO2 generator and it'll grow well, but a couple flouros and a spray a day woukdn't cut it.

THANKS.......after all the research I did, I think it may be, a bit overwhelming , for me. SeemsI would need a whole room , just for the Kratom growth, and a lot of stuff.

Maybe I'll try valerian root, or something easier, first.

It would be depressing , to spend that much money , to try to grow something, that, more than likely, will not survive , or do well.

Kratom is actually illegal in your state now ?

I think , only 3 states, have it as an illegal substance.........S O B ..........you find somerging , you like, for recreational use, and leave it to TPTB, to take it away.

Still sold in Headshops , in Illinois, but extremely expensive........Amazon has the cheapest of the Maeng Da strain, and it's damn good quality, imo.

Was only 28.00 , with shipping, for 12 oz.'s.........*major happy chuckles*

If you have a grow room already, you're half way there, it's not like in can't grow alongside canna, and canna will thrive in warm & humid, so really, anything you got "for" the Kratomw oukd benefit any other plants you might wanna grow too

Yeah as soon as they see anyone's having fun, they blacklist it. I have no idea why alcohol would still be so accepted, when it's a completely synthetic substance that causes so much bad shit. What's more, unlike kratom, canna, even opium, all of which bind to receptor sites in our brain that *evolved* for those classes of drugs, alcohol has no receptor sites whatsoever: Drunkeness is nothing but a system-wide poisoning that wipes-out brain cells, causes dehydration, and damages your entire body.

That rowdy-pissed feeling we get is just a side-effect of the damage alcohol is doing - system wide - but because it happens to feel pleasant enough, it's become the social standard for getting wasted.

Alcohol is literally just poison, whilst plant-based substances are not.

As for the lack of replies, a lot of members of these types of forums can't see past their own little grows and think Cannabis is the only plant worth the effort. Many wouldn't even know what Kratom is, and certainly wouldn't want to sacrifice one foot of potential canna-growing space for any other species. Sad really. Like spending their life in a goldfish bowl, when there are whole oceans full of valuable plants and knowledge out there to be explored.

Cannabis-only growers are horticultural tourists: If they could legally buy what they're growing now, they'd pack-up their grow-rooms and not bother.

Im in zone 7 and I have 2 growing right now in a unheated greenhouse

I keep them pruned in a bush shape, but eventually I need to take a cutting and start again .

The homegrown kratom is not the same as kratom from a fullgrown tree thow , it's around 1/4 the strength at best , It's my understanding the older the tree the more potent it gets

Fee lawful here, but it sounds so space consuming, and , after thinking this through, it nay be bast, not to have it growing in a home, with a 19 yr. old son.

If a person uses kratom, as all recreational drugs should be used, there are no problems.

You need to research, use due dillegance, and as with any drug.........moderation is the key.

After 55 years of life, I have learned what is moderation, and what is abuse, and you are right, many don't see even a legal plant , such as Kratom, as "acceptable " .

Even potheads can be hypocrites, I guess.

We are in complete agreement here, and many will dislike my opinion , here, but booze IS THE gateway drug, PERIOD .

NEVER buy already capsuled Kratom, unless you are rich.

I like to play with the courseness / fineness of the powders , I find it can make a HUGE difference in potency , I have a homemade solar ball mill and I just let it turn 24/7

Also try eating something fatty about 15 minutes before kratom (on a empty stomach ) like a slice of chesse , and again about 15-30 min. after ingestion , I find it can make a positive difference
