Notice of Entry - Renters Nightmare

So I come home from work today to a notice of entry from the landlord. He will be coming on Sunday. Totally sucks because I have nowhere to put/hide my plants. Sad to say but I am going to have to kill them. I don't know anyone to give them to. On the up side they are still seedlings and only about ~1 foot tall and not in full flower. Also I was gifted all of my equipment except for the tent so I am not financially invested in this. It's just a 1 light 600w setup but still it totally sucks. I think I might just pay it forward and try to re gift the equipment to someone else. I would love to give the plants to someone who could possibly care for them but unfortunately that is just extremely unlikely as it will take time to find someone to even donate this to. I guess it's true what they say. Don't grow if you rent. The one thing I am worried about is that I think they only have to give 24 hours notice but the notice says Sunday. What if he decides to show up on Saturday afternoon instead. Do I still have to let him in even if the notice says Sunday? I think I will play it safe and take care of business early morning tomorrow. Going to be so sad to kill my babies though.

I'm so glad I bought a tent instead of building a room like the generous equipment gifter advised me to do. I knew this situation was possible and now tear down shall be much quicker, easier and cleaner.

I even had some awesome Serious Seeds beans gifted along with the equip. I was so stoked. I was excited to possibly be able to have good high quality meds at an affordable price.

I just wanted get that off my chest.

Man that really sucks. Try to give a bean or cutting to someone so you don't lose the strain. When I rented I always had the fear of coming hem to that notice. Good luck pal. Hope it works out for you

I can't just put stuff in cupboards and on the roof because this place had serious damage from the previous tenants I'm talkin water damage and a major renovation before we moved in here. I'm pretty sure that is why he is coming just to check the place out. He hasn't been here since we started renting because he lives in another province. It's just not safe to risk it man. They gotta go. I wish it were as simple as just covering it up and pretending it's not there. Unfortunately that is not reality.

If you're serious about trying to keep your plants, tomorrow morning(today, technically) go get a bunch of extra large trash bags, then head over to the Uhaul yard in your area and RENT A UHAUL till Monday, or sunday night...It's cheap, especially if you don't put miles on the bitch...Then, go back to your place, put all your shit in the black trash bags, load up the uhaul, and park that thing around the corner till the landlord leaves on Sunday. Just do it.

That's actually a brilliant fucking idea and I would totally do it but there is one slight problem.... It's almost -20 C outside and those plant's wouldn't last 1 hour in the back of a uhaul at these temps. That really is brilliant though it would 100% work and be safe if only it were warmer out.

Ok, so Walmart or any place like that sells portable propane heaters that take the little propane canisters that camping stoves use, they start around 50 bucks...

More than enough to safely heat the back of a uhaul, and as long as no one is in it, there is no risk of asphyxiation from CO2.

Possibly a little late at this point, but has anyone ever thought of a decoy operation?

Ya know, growing some tomatoes along with the good stuff, then if there's investigation (hopefully with some notice) just hide the good stuff in a cabinet or something for the short amount of time and leave the tomatoes in the hydro setup. To the non-grower, as long as the tomatoes are not obviously dead, who's gonna know the difference, and there's nothing wrong with growing your own vegetables.

Maybe you could put the plants in a garage bag, tie them up and place in a suitcase or cupboard, as your landlord won't be checking your personal items

Box up your equipment and tape it shut. Bring your plants somewhere else for a day or two. Bring them to a friend's apartment. Or put them in your car, covered, with the heat on, until the landlord leaves.

I mean... there are endless safe places you could put them; it's just a matter of if you're going to do it, or not

How many plant's do you have? I like the idea of boxing up your equipment and hiding the plant's in the attic if there is no chance of the land lord going up there. The attic wont be terribly cold and should work for a short amount of time.

Renting a u-haul van has worked for other growers in the past. It's a good option for a couple days and beats starting over. Good luck!

I checked this thread to recommend a uhaul truck, sucks the temp is so low outside.
Barnbuster's idea is great imo, get a uhaul cargo van, the longer version of a regular van. The cab is open to the cargo area.
Just leave it running somewhere, which will be way less suspicious when it is -20 out. Good luck

I would think that by keeping the root zone warm the plants have a chance. Maybe heating pads or pocket hand warmers taped to the containers would help. Maybe wrap the plant in a trash bag and blanket too and throw it in the trunk of your car. If your gonna kill em anyways then whats the worst that can happen to em?

If you only have a few plants and they are only a foot tall, just hide them. The oven, microwave, large trash , etc. Hide your grow equipment. Make sure the place does not smell.
