So I have set up my Hydrohut 4x2x7 and have a couple of questions.
I had a lot of frustration connecting the Phresh 4 in filter to the 4 in Active Air fan. I thought they would fit together snugly but they do not. I tried a steel hose clamp but it does not help at all. The fan slips into the filter but the steel of the fan is too strong to compress with a clamp. Next i tried to use Gorilla tape. No go. Very frustrating. i finally got the fan and filter hanging and at this point they are loosely slipped together. i guess the next step is to get some of that silver tape I see on videos.

Question: if i had bought same brand filter and fan would it have been easier?

Next issue: I am using an 8 bulb T5 fixture. No problem hanging up with a nice ratchet system. I had lights about 6 inches from plants but temp on the floor was approaching mid 90s! Moved thermometer up away from lamps and still high 80's. So I opened up a lower side vent which faces a wall away from any light. Much better.I would have thought a 4 in. fan in a 4x2 with only fluorescents would have cooled the tent adequately but I need to have a vent open. i am not concerned about light leaks as room is not used for anything and sees little traffic.

Now rather than running the fan 24/7 do any of you experienced growers put your fan on a timer to shut off when the lights go off? I know the odor would be an issue but aside from that do i need the fan 24/4 for any other reason?

Lastly: strange observation. I have 10 sprouted plants under the light. One seems to have 2 stems (a twin?) Is this very atypical? I probably should not have gerninated all 10 as tent is small but I am thinking I'll only get 4-6 females. if not it is going to be a very crowded grow.

Thanks for reading

yes it might have fit better if the fan and filter were sma ebrand i would hope anyway. yes silver tape is the best!
set your fan right on the light cycle timer unless you have high humid problems then leave it on
and if you get more females than expected just select the ones you like the most!
happy growing!

Run osc fans 24/7, especially in the flower room. Exhaust fans can go off with the lights.

Phresh is the best filter you can buy but the fans don't match up. Use the 3M silver tape or run a small piece of flexible 4" ducting with the steel clamps. Both methods will work great.

Install a small oscillating plant at canopy level pointing slightly up. This will help lower the temps given off from the lighting and bring fresh air to the plants.

Yes, I turn off the fans with lights out. When you get into flowering, you may want to run the fans continuous to remove the humidity and avoid mold.

I see all kinds of mutations on RIU. I had a tri-node white lavender on my last grow, pretty cool to look at and produced some great bud.

Thanks, Prosperian. I cannot believe I never thought about using ductwork between fan and filter. What a dumbass. Will fix it tomorrow.

BTW: regarding the 2 seedlings coming from one seed. Do I cut off the smaller or just let them both go and see what happens?

Glad you got your ventilation figured out.

The two-stemmed plant, why not put up a pic of it?

IMO you can get as much yield off of one plant as two plants sharing the same root mass area and lighting.

if it were mine i would save the two but you have to be somewhat fearless and a little experienced. try it.
