Curling leaves.

Hi I'm wondering if anyone can help with, or dignose my problem.

I have 10plants under a 400w MH and I am having trouble with leaves curling. The problem is mostly with one plant. I few people have suggested it could be light burn but, the leaves that are affected are not very close at all, (over 2ft away) I have a few taller plants (same strain) which are not affected at all.

I have seen this on one or two plants over the last couple of weeks but it was just a little bit on one or two leaves.

I cut the worst affected leaves from the plant that is suffereing.

Here is a picture before I cut the leaves off.

I also topped the new growth at the same time. I dd this probably on Friday. Now the next set of leaves down are going the same way.

Heres a pic.

One plant hqas it just on one leaf and its not at the very top of the plant. (see picture).

As you can see in the picture above, there are other leaves on this plant which are closer to the light but not affected.

Also, there seems to be some other type of damage on the leaf itself. I have only seen this on this one leaf. Is this a part of the same problem.

You can just see in the circle some green patches.
Any ideas anyone?

I have looked through a couple of sites that have pictures of leaf problems but I can't find this anywhere.

Any help is appreciated.

I am using soil which has fertiliser in it already. I am not using nutes on the affected plants, the light is on 24hrs, Temps are between, 74 and 84. I know 84 is a bit high but for the most part the temp has been below 80.

Please ask or check my journal if you need more details.
The plants are 30 days old, strain is G13 x Abyss

I get the same peoblem with 2 diff strains in veg only (no other strain is effected) once I put said plants out to flower it goes away? 84 is not going to cause that damage unless you have a strain that can not take 84.
I even tryed to put mine outside to see if that would help, nope same thing even in the shade. But who np in flowering.

I found a pic of something similar in the bible...it says its from being too hot and/or build up of salts. So with that said have you done a flush? Whats the run-off of the flush's ph and ppm? And you say that its 84 in the room.....where is your thermometer? With HID there can be stratafication(different temps at different levels of the room.ie hot at the top cooler at the bottom...even with fans)

too much nutes mainly nitrogen its not over done though! heat can do it to or if it went into budding then reversed will do it too when leaves go back into veg..

I was just today at CannaSeurs (fellow grow god)..and we we're talking about that outer leaf curl, and in my outside grow it seemed to be excess water (better as drying continues), where as his was heat from inside op. I really don't like pre shit..you feed when you SEE the plants habits and needs...that way you get it...right..easy up..hard down..
Don't get caught in the "FUCK my plants are in trouble" stage, and start to throw all kinds of shit at it...general stuff like yellow, or light green...need N...wrinkled leafs after 5 days of shit...water OD.. you read too much stuff sometimes and screw yourself trying to "diagnose shit... wait and watch..

Yes the temps do vary depending on where the themometer is, the temps that I usually declare are taken at about 4 inches above the soil 2nd / 3rd row of leaves. If I put it on the table by the pots, (root level)it never above 78f. The heat is mostly generated by the light. My fan was originally set up to blow the heat from the lamp away from the plants, but I changed it last night, it is now blowing the cool air into the grow area, this is working much better.
I'm a bit reluctant to flush because this seems to slow the plant down and can take time to recover. Also, what would I be flushing out. I have not put any nutes in since about three weeks ago when I almost killed the lot with a dose of full strength nutes.

Would it not be better to transplant it into a new pot with new soil, I'd imagine it would be the same amount of stress without drowning it in water.

I have just stated introducing nutes to the healthier plants, reccommended dose is 7ml per litre and I have only put 3ml in 2ltrs. That should be ok.

One last thing that I never noticed before I started this thread, the stem and leaf stalks are a bit purple,

As you can see, there are purple stripes running up the stem,

I also have a couple of plants with some of the leaf stalks purple and others are green.
Is this normal or could it be related or a seperate issue altogether.

Ok thats what I was getting at...if you had given nutes lately...its still helpfull to check the run-off. That way you can have a better idea of what is going on before you start adding stuff etc. As far as the thermo placement, I keep mine near the top of the canopy...thats where its the hottest...so if you're good at the top then you'll be good at the bottom.

Close but not quite. She's a cross, Great Dane and Mastiff. Ain't she a beauty?
She's only just turned 4, i rescued her as a 3 month old from an abusive environment.
I love all animals but, dogs are very special.

Thankyou everyone for your replies, i feel very re-assured now. I will move the affected plant to the outside edges where its coolest. I'm just going to watch it for the next day or so and wait for the leaves to start drooping before I water again.

foliar feeding just as the day cycle is starting can help get some extra water in those leaves as well...but dont spray them with the lights on. good luck bro.

I am on 24 hr light, I did mist them daily for a while but have stopped doing it until I start flowering. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

ah well that wont work then....gotta have open stomas to uptake the water anyway. well I just stopped by the journal and it looks great and all seems to be well with the temps now so.....im gonna schmoke
