Can it still be saved?

Hey Hey!

I've been growing for a while and had no problems but my friend just start and hes having trouble and I have no idea whats wrong.

The setup

-6-7 weeks into veg
-Organic soil mix with very little time-released.
-Ph of water is 6.4
-Temp is about 78-82F with 50%H
- Fertilizes about once every 2 weeks

The plants had no real big problems until about a week ago, its like all new leaves have brown spots on them and are about to start turning yellow. And there is very little new growth.

He did switch from purified water to tap water about 2 or 3 weeks ago but the ph is the same. I thought it might be that, but I read somewhere that it does really matter? Maybe it does, I have no idea.

I just took some images here.

I mean look at those green leaves they look kinda shivered up

Any idea or suggestions would be appreciated

Over watered, severely

Under feed, severely

You need to re-plan and re-study.

You have to listen to the plant. There is no formula.

If you don't see this, you are not doing it right. It took me two years of that to get to this, so all you need is the last 10 pages of my journal. :)photo 4(5).jpg

Note the two main things. Dark luxury green and a held up and happy leaf aspect.

These finally, are not over watered, crinkled, yellow, and hopeless looking.

The plant will say. But can we respond?

They need food but no water.

I spray the leaves to fix it. And yet, you may see that as a somewhat advanced technique.

But all the details I keep in my Journal.

Good luck.

You won't see any changes in the already-damaged leaves, but hopefully the new growth will show the changes you've made as suggested by doer.

Nitrogen can be transported and fix up the photo-factories of what is left. But, yeah, those crinkled brown ones are gone and should be removed for sanity and well as sane-ness. :)

I was surprised to find the N lack, in the lower leaves, will clear right up with some lawn food spray at 150 ppm with a wetting agent. Unless they are dry and crinkled, I never take them off. The plant is re-consuming the sugars.

I've seen yellow, almost parchment feeling leaves, come back green in a few days. But, at the end of bloom, we know that is OK for the lower leaves. The plant wants those carbs back.

It seems a little strange to see plants in that kind of shape with reports of feeding every two weeks and a consensus of under feeding. Seems to me they are not getting nutrients but it could be because of nutrient lock out from over feeding. The light green makes this seem a little odd though. I've never locked out nitrogen from over feeding so just curious if anyone knows what locks out nitrogen besides ph? Seems like I've read about some stuff that can do that but my memory is not recalling the details.

In any event, can you ask your friend what he was feeding and if he knows the ppm of his nute mix? It's either really high or really low.

Yes when excess nutes build up in the soil salts build up in there and this stops the uptake of N. Also too much P in the soil stops the uptake of N.

Make sure your soil pH is good as well. The pH of your soil is more important than the pH of the water but you should still dial in the water as well. The reason being is because you are giving the soil water and nutrients to store up and the plant uses it from the soil as needed. If your soil pH is off, the plants will not be able to take in the nutrients at optimal levels.

Hydro is different. In hydro, water pH is everything. In soil, not so much because the soil buffers it big time. Remember, just because you water with a certain pH every time does not mean that will be the pH of your soil.

These babies definitely need a good feeding. Once every 2 weeks is not enough. Bump it up to at least once a week. These plants are definitely savable. Do not put them into flower until there is a good amount of healthy growth.

Also, warn your friend that growing becomes very addictive, very quickly. Soon he will want to take it to the next level... HID

I told him to keep it under 130 and to use non-anti-bacterial soap. But i'm sure hes going to just spray it on with a water bottle :-(. lol

He just over watered it like 2 days ago lol. If it requires him to do to much work hes not going to do it at all.. So I had to keep it simple

I just told him to stop watering and just spray the leaves with some 20-20-20 fertilizer :bigjoint:
