Moving to Colorado Best City to live in

Boise is a lovely city.
What type of pay rate can a person expect to start at. I have about 2 years of hydro experience and know pretty good what I'm doing ??
And moving from NY do I need to get a license or something. I read that there are 2 levels of jobs for the cannabis industry ????

you might want to post this question (or look at the many threads about this same subject) in the colorado section of the forums...locals will have better answers.
and Fyi there isnt many jobs available and the ones that are there are highly sought after. you might be a great closet grower but do yourself a favor and start getting commercial greenhouse experience or some sort of mass production under your belt cause that is what employers are looking for in the coming years.

i know several dispensary owner / manager types
you need a badge from the dept of revenue marijuana enforcement division. there are 2 levels of badge, one for lower tier workers and one for managers and up. both require extensive background checking, etc. the worker badge is $75 and the key badge is $250. you will not be able to apply for these badges until you live in colorado and you will not be able to get a job w/ pot until you have a badge.
you are unlikely to walk into a grower's position. you will likely need to start as a trimmer or budtender unless you have some special training or education like accounting or legal work or something else you can do besides an entry level position as a trimmer. trimmers and budtenders should expect to make between $10 & $14 / hour depending on experience.
Yup u got it the badges..... $10 to $14 an hour is okay with me. Use to be pretty good at sports and especially baseball, but got injured. Now my passion is cannibis... How many plants can an avg person grow at there home in Colorado???
Why don't people just grow there own then??? I guess it could be a million reasons.... Is there still a black market for weed??? And is there gonna be when weed in Colorado is a lot cheaper ??

i really couldnt speculate as to the existence of a true black market. sure transactions between friends take place but i dont think thats a real black market. a grey market maybe.
people dont grow for plenty of reasons. many just dont want to deal w/ putting in the work. many people rent and landlords arent favorable to growing pot in their apartments, especially hydro. i can say that the biggest headache ive ever seen a friend experience as a result of growing in an apartment was when a friend's upstairs neighbor's hydro system malfunctioned and sent 110+ gallons of nute solution into the ventilation between their apartments where it then spread through the system and rained down into every room in her place. im sure it cost that guy as much or more as one retail harvest not to mention his eviction...

Yeah I thought of the hydro malfunction problem.... I current grow in the 5 gallon buckets but that is kind of a pain, looking to getting 10 ballon bucket instead.... Can an apartment complex actually not let u grow ??

If you wanna come here to make bank on weed good luck. Your not the first and won't be the last. 9 out of 10 will end up wishing they never moved. The only ones making real money are the state, dispensaries and grow equipment suppliers.

I'm sure there are plenty of jobs for shithead budtenders, don't have to know much for that jab, spesh now some of the more greedy places are only focused on rec, but the places with the real top shelf seem to be keeping it good for med but thats off topic, hehe.

yes, a landlord can legally restrict you from growing in their property. many are specifically forbidding it in their lease paperwork.
it is definitely not a greenrush going on out here, youre about a decade too late for that. but just like any other job you can find a spot and if youre good and dedicated you can work your way up i suppose but youre definitely not going to walk into a grower's position based on an illegal hydro resume. and keep in mind that you gotta get here and get badged before you can even start being considered for a position. so keep in mind that there are a lot of people like you who are gunning for those entry level positions. if youre thinking about coming out here to start your own operation you better be prepared to jump through years of hoops and theyre going to be even more focused on you because youre not from here. they are going to go through all of your finances w/ a comb to make sure theres no illegal money behind your startup, etc.

You have to be a state resident for 2 years before you could qualify for an MMC license so starting up right away even if you have funds isn't happening.

i'd also like to add that i have never worked in the mmj industry, but i know a few who have been at it a long time and being a trimmer at one of those places has to suck so fucking hard...
im sure theres some people who are just so happy to be getting paid legal money to be trimming pot that its cool w/ them, but for my time - no thanks!

I'm just looking to start at the bottom of the industry with a good company and start growing my own plants 3-flower 3-vegg.

gonna buy a house at 10 buck an hour? that will be the only way you can grow. I'm sure most leases nowadays have something about not growing in them.
It's a nice thought but probably a long shot making it.
