The most used murder weapon is the well-known "blunt instrument". Not guns
in mass murders?
i'm not talking about the cases where the righties assert that they would just find some other way to kill them. homicide can be done with just about anything. there's no preventing those really.
but mass murders like virginia tech and the gabby giffords massacre and a room full of dead 6 year olds are a much different question. i am interested in preventing, mitigating, and deterring mass murders within the framework of the second amendment as interpreted by our fairly balanced supreme court.
the most well known weapons used are semi automatic guns with high capacity magazines. often, the guns are acquired because a legal gun owner left their guns laying around for anyone to get. sometimes, the guns are acquired because there was no simple background check.
there's nothing wrong about responsible gun ownership, most gun owners would emphatically agree. so keep them locked up when you're not using them (besides the one you must clutch as you sleep at night because THEY are coming to get you).
there's nothing wrong with a simple background check to buy a gun, no matter how you buy it. most gun owners and even NRA members certainly agree.
the high capacity magazine thing is more 50/50, but there is nothing unconstitutional about a limit on magazine capacity and it's pretty documented that mass murderers really love having easy access to high, high, high capacity magazines. some of them are so big that they are called drums. they come in handy for massacring moviegoers. i bet they even work well for massacring little six year old kids.
you're bringing a baseball bat (made for t-ball) talking point to an adult gun control debate.
