Smart pots 2 and 3 gallons good or bad

fabric pots are good. I use 7 gal fabric pots.

i love the smart pots. i tried air pots, they sucked. i used tall and short and big and small pots and the smart pots are the best. fabric pots actually, not just smart pots.

i'll never go back to hard pots.

i've used 1, 2, 3 and 5 gallon smart pots. i flower in the 3 gallon these days.

I use the 3 gal pots. Roots are growing out the bottom and sides, but IMO there worth the buck. After stretch, the size is comparable to those I grow in 5 gal buckets. Also have the benefit of making overwatering virtually impossible**

Roots are growing out the bottom and sides,

That's strange, I haven't had this happen in my smart fabric pots.
When the roots hit the air wall (sides) the sun and/or air gently burns
the tips of the roots causing a back fill of the side off shoots (roots)
thus creating a bigger denser rootball.

sometimes the roots grow out the bottom.. I give them enzyme teas and alfalfa / kelp teas alot. That really makes roots grow.

No that's actually the point, they air prune so you don't have to transplant.

i use the 2 & 3 gals for flowering depending on plant size. i can yield out of a 3 gal fabric pot what friends get out of 5 gal hard pots. and im in colorado where its really dry and they help raise humidity in the tent. you really shouldnt see too many roots protruding from the sides unless you have pots touching each other which defeats the purpose of using fabric pots altogether. ideally you'd have them on some sort of rack or shelving that allows air to flow underneath them as well. i built tables for my tent that have wire shelving on the top, the kind you'd find in a closet or something.

start with good soil, though. fabric pots have tendency to dry out quicker especially if elevated, which means more frequent watering which can lead to the less experienced burning their plants or salts building up and locking out certain nutes. sometimes these are mistaken for deficiencies and again the plants get burned. if you start with good soil you shouldnt need to do much but add clean water and root builders until flower when you begin supplementing P.
