Early Summer Harvest Outdoor Anywhere!

It is possible to have a early summer outdoor harvest if your willing to be consistent for 6-8 weeks and move potted plants into darkness each day.

I had a barn with a dark corner and I had 8 plants in pots that I moved into darkness each day and had an awesome late June harvest.

I had a method where I would move the plants after dark into the barn and I would put them out everyday at 9:00 in the morning. It was an easy schedule for me because I was at home at 9:00 each morning. It didn't matter what time I moved them into the barn as long as it was before dawn.

If you work in the morning but are home in the evening you can put the plants to bed in darkness at or 5:00 or 6:00 Pm and put them back outside as soon as it is dark, so in the morning you don't have to do anything. It may seem like a pain in the ass but when your smoking your harvest on the 4th of July you'll be happy, happy, happy!

There are all sorts of ways of doing this. I used big trash barrels to put over my plants at 5:30Pm and uncovered them after dark. My plants got to big when they went into full blown bud and that was when I started transporting them in and out.

If your creative you can invent something that will work to put the plants into darkness. If your home in the early evening you can do everything needed at night. If you grow a few plants along a fence you could make a simple frame with hinges that could be made like a lean to and simply use black plastic. If your going to use black plastic as a light barrier you will want to cut the plants light in the evening. The reason is because the sun is really hot in the early summer by 8:00AM and plants could overheat.

I found that early evening in an area that is not in direct sun works the best.

People control when their plants bud indoors by cutting the light to 12 hours light and 12 hours dark. With some creative thinking it is easy to have an early summer outdoor harvest of a few plants to hold you over until fall.

Why I didn't do this for years is beyond me, I just didn't think of it. I kick myself in the ass to think of how easy it would have been to do if I had only thought about it.

Well people, you've got a few months to come up with a plan, good luck!

yes it is, had a tented harvest a couple years ago, more work than it was worth imo. harvest around end of july started tenting little gals nearly right when they went out. received an oz give or take off each encountering bud rod spreading fast as hell due to the hot humid environment in the tent, overall it was a pain and in the end I'd of rather just grown them naturally, but it was a fun learning experience

I tried an experiment where I replicated late July daylight hours for about 3 weeks inside then put them out in late July already begining to flower. I was hoping for a late August early September harvest, but it didn't work. I think it could, but I think I would need to veg them longer first before flipping to 14/10 which is what I figured late July day/night would be. I don't think I had my timing right either. They ended up getting stressed and stalled. Didn't finish until normal time anyway. Not early summer but I thought I could shave 3-4 weeks off.

yea if you have an indoor space, definately a better idea. Id drop from 18 to 15 hrs before 14. usually don't get to 14 hrs until mid-late august here, late july is at about, 14h45m so that could be where your stalling came from, decreasing light hrs, then outside to a full 45 min more and then gradually decreasing, if you do it again try dropping to 15 instead inside, this way the plant will be experiencing nothing but dropping light hrs. 18-15, then a 15 minute drop outside, then gradually decreasing daylight hrs from there

You need to get with the times.
there may be some potent autos, but all autos have low yield (compared to photo period plants, not other autos) so Id rather spend my time and energy, materials, growing my photo plants for a couple months more, receiving 4,5,6 times as much yield for my plants, and most of the photos being just as good, if not much better. And get with the times ehh? I think youll find the ppl here who know a thing or 2 abandoned autos after their first run with them, but If your truly that impatient and want to sacrifice yield, time, materials that could've been spent toward a worthwhile plant(imo of course), all for a miniscule early harvest go ahead. Patience pays, and its well worth it to grow out a photo for a bit longer in place of an auto

Like I said. Never said I grew auto's, but if you look around you will see people with good yielding auto's. Welcome to 2014.

like what 4 oz max. when Ill be getting 6-8 oz minimum off my photos. if I can remember the most Ive seen someone say the got from an auto was 6 oz, and everyone was calling bs on him, but it did look like a well yielding plant, for an auto. As said, autos have shitty yield(compared to photos not other autos) Im sorry but 6 oz best case scenario is not what I call a good yielding plant, and the average Ive seen for autos is 1-3 oz

yeah lower yields for sure but depending on your situation ex security and grow area......they work. but given a choice yep I would grow photos, now back to the mans question,,,,,yep it works but if you can leave he plants where they are and throw shade cloth or black tent them your golden..........

I've gone the auto route before. I think they have their place it just depends on what your goals are. Last time I did them was two years ago I put out I put out 5 Paradise Seeds Pandora. I grew out a 3 pack I got during a promo the previous year and was impressed by it for an auto so I bought a pack the following year. I started them indoors under t5's for about 3 weeks until they showed sex then moved them out to their permanent home in 3 gallon buckets. I lost one in a storm and I believe I pulled about 5oz and some change off the remaining 4 plants around the 4th of July. By no means a one hitter quitter, but it wasn't garbage either. I thought they made a decent bumper crop while the rest of my plants where still in veg. Under ideal conditions I can see that strain pulling 2-2.5oz easy per plant outdoors. For $50 in seeds, a few bucks in soil, and the very little attention I gave them I felt it was worth it, but that's just me. I'd never go balls to the wall on autos, but a couple plants are fun. But like I said it all depends on what your goals are.

I have been moving plants for years.
In the NE US I found it to be the easiest and best way for me to control PM and Bud Rot.
Of course it is a lot of work, but for me it is worth it.
Lowering the humidity helps keep the blight at bay.
I put them inside( or garage )with fans and dehumidifiers.
I can start flowering whenever I want to.
I have put plants out as early as late March and have harvested in early June.
I do this throughout the summer and have numerous harvests.
:leaf:

Autos and physically moving plants in and out of a building are both a complete waste of time and effort. Autos are junk and a genetic mockery of good strains that basically degrade and lower the quality of an otherwise good strain. And why would you early flower plants and take away from the potential for a great harvest with a full summer?! In my opinion autos are genetic retards and early flowering is fucking with nature!
