i'd actually like to add, that while it is important to have a basic set of decent tools for this hobby, nothing replaces sound understanding, good research, and simple experience (that thing you get just after you need it). So, i'm also not going to jump on board with the notion that you have to buy "top bin" everything to grow good plants---not just herb, but all plants.

To Brittle: think about going organic--biggest cost is time/sweat equity you put in at the front end; forget about ppm and pH meters, expensive nute lines. i know urine contains nitrogen.. but it contains massive amounts and to my knowledge will burn the shit out of your plants...

and if it doesnt, the additional nutes you add im sure contain more nitrogen... im dont with the argument tho.. ive said all i wanted to say.. either way i believe piss is bad for your plants... there are other methods that are better... like i said if you cant afford whats needed to grow.. then dont grow until you can...no you dont need expensive nute lines either.. im using maxibloom... 16 bucks for a 2.2 pound bag.. then cal mag.. thats it.. less then 40 bucks for nutes.. then you need ph up.. well i do anyways.. pretty cheap in my opinion.... and gives me a better feeling knowing im not smoking urinated plants

Organic gardeners try to create an entire micro-ecosystem in which microbes break down organic matter into usable forms of N-P-K and the micronutrients, then feed those nutrients directly to the plant.
fourth, to return to the absurd equation of "why not drink piss if you grow with it and smoke what you grow" : you eat food from the grocery store that was grown with diluted pesticides, why not drink the diluted pesticides?
