Reservoir for PH'd water

Hey All,

I am contemplating having a res with ph'd water to auto feed my next run.

I plan to manually water when feeding but for every other watering it would be great to auto feed.

My question is, Is there any issue with having the ph'd water being stagnant in the res or will I need to bubble it.?

If I didn't bubble it how long would the water being viable to use?

I keep a water pump small one to keep water circulating and a air bubbler in my rez as more bubbles mean more aerated water equals healthier roots. The pump suction cups to bottom of res and a hose that sticks up out of water and is like a mini old faithful deal. Umm couple days with out water moving is stagnant. I was using a 55gal res but cut it down to 25 gal as I was not using all the water. Keeping water moving is a must. I make a 5 gal buckets of nutes ever 2 days roughly. I have 18 plants and give them 2 mason jars (small ones like 8-10 oz ones) full every 2 days. I dont really have runoff either and it works good for me.

i grow in coco hempy buckets. i too have a 30 gallon trash can, but only fill it with 20 gallons of water. it lasts me roughly a week. you need a water pump and a air pump with airstone(s). i use a 200gph or something like that pump and i use a dual outlet air pump with two 4 inch round air stones..

Hey, Friends...Maybe you can give me some input here?

I am presently running a 55 gallon water reservoir like you're talking about...and the confounded thing is I can't keep the PH stable! Everywhere I turn I read that somewhere between 5.5 and 6.5 is the sweet-spot. I'll bring it down to a comfy 6.0 with an organic Ph Down, and give the girls a drink. I keep bubbles airing it 24/7, and it's straight up tap that had time to breath out the chlorine.

24 hours later, KA-PLOOEY! PH jumps up to 8.2!

I have a great Ph Meter, but no PPM meter...But when I'm adding so much PH down the supply starts looking milky, I start thinking things ain't right! I just stopped looking at the PH, and so far I've had better luck. I know all the up-and-down is hard on the plants, but I need a long term solution. Chasing the perfect PH every time is not making ANYONE happy.

My goal is the perfect H20 for my gals, but not having a stable Ph is not a great place to start. I love these gals! You understand! You get it, or else you wouldn't be reading this! :) If you were me and wanted the absolute perfect cool drink, where is one to go? What needs to be done? I will save up and get the good filters, and the meters...I could use some enlightenment on the path.

im not sure why your ph goes up.. what "organic" ph down are you using? i use maxibloom and calmag and have to add ph up cause its so low...

It's pH Down by SaferGro... I don't see me doing any endorsements for them, so I'm all ears to what works for others, for sure! I'm hoping to keep it minimal with Cal & Mag and maybe a daily dose of Superthrive...but other than that, good, ole H20, right?

i use general hydroponics ph up and down... the ph down you only need a few drops its that good... maybe yours loses concentration after so long? vinegar does that too... try a different brand. and depending on medium, use 5ml cal mag for coco from what ive read. i just started adding cal mag cause i was orginally told that maxibloom had enough in it well im having to add it too.. ive also read its hard to over do on the cal mag too so i guess it doesnt really matter and ill see. i dont use superthrive. i bought some and it just sits around.. may try to use it for cloning though since im out of gel... you need air stones and stuff in the water as well. not sure if you got them..

Sup Nature, IS 8.2 the ph of your water prior to ph'n it? If it was then you would think your ph solution would be evaporating,

If its at another ph on going in then that would be interesting as something is affecting the ph….

I have read many reports on this website, and other websites. I believe that the major opinions are that a lot of people out there don't like Ph Down, or Ph Up for that matter. The only thing I ever use is white distilled vinegar for down and baking soda for up. I also find that if I am going to use the water to mix in nutrients I have better luck with the stability of the Ph if I mix in the nutrients and then Ph the whole thing. My Ph seems a lot more stable. This may be just the way seems to me. Also, (I only have 7 plants right now) I only prepare my nutrients 1 gal at a time. I used to use a 30 gal trash can for a reservoir until I realized how important really good water is. I now use two 5 gallon buckets for reservoirs and have a bubble stone in each. I realize that the 2 buckets are more inconvenient but I have much better luck with fresher water. Two 5 gallon buckets doesn't last very long.
