Hi guys

3 weeks ruffly into flowering under 2 250 watt hps to be honest i dont think they are cutting it in my 1.2/1.2/2M tent.

This is a first time grow and i dont have ventilation of any kind bar 2 desk top fans.

Im sitting at a temp of 30c lights on my plants seem to be loving that temp but i am wanting to upgrade to 400 watt or 600 watt HPS asap

My question is in the size of the tent with no actual ventilation to remove hot air is running a 400 or 600 watt gana create too much heat ?

Thank you :)

I'm running a 400W MH / HPS Digital Light and it gets over 97 degrees when my ventilation is off. I'm in a 40x40x93 inch closet though. I would say for sure you're going to need some sort of ventilation.

Thats quite warm....

In the country i live in its quite over priced for anything to do with indoor growing so if i was to buy ventilation set up from a grow shop id be up for 500usd i did think about going to my local hardware shop and doing a DIY ventilation set up on the cheap.

Just wanting to know what temps would each light give off for 400watt or 600watt

Still going to be too hot. You will need ventilation. I use http://www.ebay.com/itm/iPower-4-6-8-10-12-inch-INLINE-DUCT-FAN-blower-HIGH-CFM-cool-vent-exhaust-/160875914720?pt=US_Hydroponics&var=&hash=item2574f3a5e0. Use http://www.ebay.com/itm/171152970422?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Variable fan control. Cheap for a good air supply.

Good luck..

PULL the air, don't push....
You might be able to buy equip. online from somewhere cheap and ship it there.....The other thing is bathroom vent fans.....that should be a cheap but "functional" alternative. I'll bet you have those there....and you would not have to shop for them at a grow store!

I have a 1.2 x 1.2 x 2.0m tent, also
without a fan and filter the marijuana smell is intense.

You don't need 2 fans.
One fan sucking out the warm air through ducting near the top of the tent
- and a simple length of ducting going into the bottom, is good enough.
Negative pressure will ensure that air is replaced.

If the sides of the tent start to 'suck in' you need to add more input vents
(ducting going INTO the tent).

Which area are you from?

He's asking specific questions about his set up.

I never understand why some people join in threads when they have nothing to offer.

Are AC units common in NZ???
I imagine it would be easy to convert an AC unit
OR a kitchen extractor fan.

But, take my word, mate
When a 2.44m cubed tent full of plants starts flowering...
YOU WILL SMELL IT IN CHRISTCHURCH!
(or it'll feel like you could).

AND air exchange is one of the vital aspects of healthy plants.

You Kiwi's are supposed to be ingenious at knocking things together out of spare parts and scrap.
You'll think of something.

I'm more one of those lazy Kiwis :)

I just refuse to pay so much for anything from a grow shop.

Ill knock something up tomorrow will try hunt down to inline 6inch fans and some ducting should work a treat.

I guess considering my tent has not had any sort of vent going on all my plants are doing very well coming into 4th week of flower soon and flowers are starting to pack on some weight super cropped all plants quite impressed now the long wait until harvest oh and then drying then curing should have some bud by xmas haha

If the Kiwi grow shops are still getting away with charging a premium on the strength of their GROW SHOP kudos
competition will probably start to bring all that down to earth with a bang.

20 years ago something that cost £5 from a garden centre was priced at £15 in a HYDROPONIC store.
A sodium lamp that was £10 was repackaged and called CANNABLISS SPECIAL - Bottled tropical sunshine for 'exotic' plants....
and a price of £35 was attached!!!
Now there's a grow shop on every third street the competition has levelled things out, somewhat.

If he finishes his grow with what he has he wont run into heat issues...see how that works? Its his first grow learn with what you have.
