DIY aero cloner --fast and dirty

I read a thread by japanfreak from a couple years back about using pvc instead of neoprene collars or net pots for aero cloning. Using very small, like 1/4" pvc cut in 3" lengths sticking up like drain pipes, or release valves --sorry i'm baked right now and watching the super bowl. anyhow, like most diy aero cloners, his was based on a smallish tote setup. He drills holes in the lid and pops the pvc through, securing with some kind of silicone or something--not sure, can't remember, again, baked. so the technique is to try to keep a side branch off your clone that holds the clone in place in the pvc.

I got to thinking, why even use the pvc? I can put my t5 2" from the foliage whether it is 2" off the top of the container 1/2" then i compromised with myself and thought, what about some grommets? I'll go to the hydro store tomorrow and pick up six and make a six site aero cloner out of shit i have lying around and see what i can do.
anyone forsee a problem?

I am defiantly going to watch you progress on this. Want to make my own aero cloner, but not sure how to. When you get yours finished, could you post up some "Aero Cloner DIY for Dummies" pix and short instructions? TIA!

Sure, i'd be happy to write up some brief notes with some pictures but I'm no hydro expert and was planning on doing this with some sprinkler stuff I happen to have lying around for when I'm away from the grow for more than a couple days and need some automatic watering. In other words, i'm building this from found/already possessed shit so it's going to be a bit of a ghetto rig (i.e., "fast and dirty"). There are some really good diy tutorials all over the place, though--that's how i got this idea!
thanks for stopping in and I'll just post shit here when I get done with it later.
be easy,

so after much hemming and hawing i gave up on my diy ghetto cloner and went ahead and built this https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/6678-cheapo-aero-cloner.html

looks good to me; i did my own riff on it, as is my wont: 5 gal instead of 1 gal tote, 2x 18" bubble curtains cut to size instead of 10"; thermostatic water heater (50w but HAS THERMOSTAT); making a 6 site with 1.75" neoprene collars instead of just drilling through and using tubing. If i get around to it, i'll throw up some pictures but most likely i'll just wait until i actually need to take clones to show it off!
be easy!
