Leaves brown/yellow w/ pics.. Help?

2 of my plants have yellow and browning spots on them and I'm not sure why. They are in a humboldt mix in big solo cups about to be transplanted. I let the water completely dry in between waterings. They are under a 2 ft t5 4 bulb about 2-4" away and this just started. The only thing I could think that caused this is I topped them off with soil a week ago and a little got on the leaves and also yesterday when I watered them some got on the leaves, hotspots maybe? Magnesium deficiency? Any input appreciated

Looks like it's a ph issue. Have you checked the runoff?

Getting soil or water on the leaves wouldn't cause this.

If I were you I'd transplant now into some fresh, proper soil and keep an eye on the ph.

That's exactly what my soil ph issues looked like when it started. No damn like button. But, anyway, +1 to SnaFuu

I would agree ph is causing this problem. may be high/low cant really tell but Im 98% sure its not 6.6 where it should be in soil. get a cheep test kit from petco like 6-7 buks and saves my plants all the time!! does ur soil contain lime of any type?

I'm using great value purified bottled water on them and I'll pick up a ph test kit tomorrow and report back

Purified bottled water often times contains nasty shit that your plants can't really use. Try using tap that has sat in a bucket for a good 12+ hours, this allows the water to settle out/oxidize, and release most of the trace elements you don't want in there.

Okay cool was thinking that was my problem as well as I never used this before and have used that method on my previous crops and things went fine so I will try that out and see how it goes thank you

No problemo. Possibly flush it, then give em a week with just water and keep an eye on your pH. If the problem continues to develop, troubleshoot for deficiency. If things start to settle down, continue what you were doin... Keep us updated!

am growing in coco coir, plant is yellow from top to bottom, 8weeks veg, read about maybe ph problem with soil, , that is problem, how do i bing it down?

Should i I cut the bad leaves off? One is broken and yellow and spotted.. Or should I let it do it's own thing?

they will fall off when touched when there gone!! but untill then even yellow half dead leaves provide energy. I had some clones root and grow into a full plant with 1-2 blades of a yellow leaf, lol

I just picked up a ph test kit and the great value purified bottle water tested the correct ph and was wondering if there might be any additives that harmed the plants? Then I ph tested my tap water and it's reading about 8 without sitting for 24 hours going to retest that tomorrow.. Any input on the purified water or what other problems this could be?
