Any Way To Identify Strain before Harvesting?

I wanted to get some seeds on but I was concerned about something. I plan on getting Cream Of The Crop "CUSTARD CREAM." Problem is what if I get the wrong strain in the mail; will I have to wait until harvest just to find out my strain is the wrong flavor. waiting for months to find out its the wrong flavor would totally suck.

Does anyone know of any way verify that you're growing the right strain.

How early would the first bud appear? for something like this hybrid strain. The distributor description says 9-10 weeks bloom

Buds should start showing in roughly 2 weeks of 12/12
But unless you have access to the Terpene profile of the original source testing won't verify. Plus you may need to test finished bud.

Why don't you trust you will receive
The correct seeds.
Are you pheno hunting?

No just heard a lot of random stories about problems with mail deliveries but none of them actually said they received a wrong strain; just being cautious that's all

Each strain turns out different according to what kind of light, planting medium, fertilizer, harvest windows.
To verify if it's the right one for you , clone it and vegetate it in a different area as you flower it. If it turns out to be what you want after the harvest, you can produce more that's genetically the same.
seeds are all slightly different like kids from the same parents .

Like the person said above not all kids look like the parents. Sometimes this could be a good thing or not.
Some seeds are less stable than others having more variance.

if you want max uniformity
You want ibl seeds.
Other than that it is a pheno hunt.

Geno type, pheno type.
Are worth further study.

oh, phenotype; I get it now.

Now that you mention it I realize it takes a lot of experimenting with many generations to obtain a stable hybrid. But have you heard how easy it is to say cross an orange flavor with a banana flavor for example

I was thinking about a vanilla banana hybrid LOL! Just wanted to know if this is realistically possible for home growers or something that requires a labroom and more sophisticated methods to produce.

The problems arise from not having mother and fathers for the crosses you like. Some people frown on forcing pollen
From a female. Just banging different genetics is not hard. Selecting and stabilizing desired traits without including unwanted is the real problem.

Having said that I see nothing wrong with experimenting as long as your not passing junk around to uninformed
Growers.

Like I said I'm not a breeder so I will leave it at that.

I might mess around with crossbreeding later; right now I'll just focus on getting a good plan for DWC nute concentrations

Going to have to wait a while before everything gets started though.

You would probably end up with a catpiss type flavor..

You have a long, long way to go before even considering crossing. You will first need to learn what phenos are.

charface just explained that most successful and stable crossbreeds are usually done by breeders not home growers. And I have seen some of the lengthy posts advising those considering crossbreeding. I Don't think I can invest the time into it unfortunately.
