i'm very aware of this, which is why the only direction i know at this point is to go to school..i will live low budget for a long time; i don't care about the material anymore..i just want inner-peace.
Inner peace leads to outer success.

she's looking to be department head but not teaching.
let her know that department head/chair positions just ADD administrative responsibilities TO their teaching load (though, if you're at a good R1 or larger state university, they're pretty good about cutting some slack on your teaching load).

as for you, inner peace is a wonderful goal, but i will leave you the advice my MA advisor left me when i aske him for a recommendation for my PhD: the doctorate is a neurosis, it is an extended period of torture designed to weed out anyone not 100% passionate and committed to the research questions they have. and it is rather successful, hence the 50% completion rate of Doctorates. Also, and this is not really a concern for you but just fyi, having a phd can actually hurt you in some fields and if you try to change industries, as some business see you as a potential liability--you might demand more pay for your credentials, you might be difficult and stuck in the idealistic clouds of the ivory tower etc. SO, it is also the case that, as the value of the BA decreases, so, too, does the value of the MA and PhD.
but, if you feel like the school life is more like a vacation given your previous experience, then that will bode well for you in higher ed. best of luck in your endeavors.
be easy,

Not many doors get opened anymore for a basic bachelor degree hun. Very common for people to have one. Masters or a PHD if you want to look like a shiny star.
Well, I don't about that. I maverick-ed in. All I have is B.S, but no degree. :) And my field, is not locked, even yet by degree. Services need people with trained personalities. A degree can go against that. Doctors are notorious for the big Education, but no bed-side manner, or any manners, at all, in some cases.
Arrested development, socially, due to years of 120 hr weeks.

So, find a thing you like that you can become obsessed with being the walking, talking, expert, for yourself. Me, it was computers.

But, all fields are technical these days. Companies do Drone inspections ever day of infrastructure, for example. If that was interesting, getting paid to fly toys that cost $40K, is fun. See what I mean? You just have to get the interest going for yourself, and let that become an obsession, learn it all, get around people and talk the talk. Go to the company and be the expert they need.

I asked my VP about 15 years ago, if I should cobble it together, with all my GPAs and push for a Masters Degree? He just laughed. We don't need you with a Masters, he said. We need your time and advice. You are already the Services expert, right?

The key to life simple. Don't act confused or needy, act like a subject matter expert. Always be the uh-questioned, expert in your field. Get good at verbal tap dance. Then ruthlessly fill in the knowledge you faked your way through, every day.

That is what I do.

So, how is the "trained Personality" issue working out?
Who trained you?
8th or 9th degree Personality?

just more proof that silly southern austrian right wing radicals hate reality, and reality hates them right back.

it's hiding out with the track record of success of austrian economics, the loch ness monster, and bigfoot.
Tell us how you really feel. Let's use this as a starting point, " capitalism is a system of virtual slavery,
serving the narrow interests of a comparative
handful of businessmen and capitalists, who,
driven by insatiable greed and power lust, exist as
parasites upon the labor of the masses.."

what you just described is like "vulture capitalism", not the type of mutually beneficial capitalism that so many companies employ.

That's straight up pre-revolt stage out of the Marx handbook, from the exploitation section. You been slacking on your Big Book reading.
