I ventured down to DIY super store not that long ago to invest in my own Scrog for my jump into hydro growing.
I am aware things could of been upgraded but i like to start off at level 1 an build upwards with my ideas !
I wasnt thinking about this guide to how i setup my own ScroG for my hydro jump so i didnt prepair any pictures of each stage so i hope the steps are clear enough to help any curious newbies who might find this of any use. However i have included a picture of the final look while its inside sitting on top of my wilma big 4 system inside my tent to give you an idea of what it will look like in hope to give a visal idea.
what i bought was
Wire mesh
to many bambo canes
2 packs of twisty ties
And a Tool kit since some Asshole nicked my last one.
Step 1 get 5 bamboo canes trying to get them all even in length helps.
step 2. roll out 7-8 foot of wire mesh, fold at 3-4 foot to double it over like your folding a piece of paper. use the edges of the mesh to clamp each side of that length of mesh together.
step 3. repeat step 2 If your using a big 4 wilma system this is needed unless you get the right mesured wire mesh in width and lenth which i didnt do.Hence why i had to double step 2but i have fun as i like getting hands on with stuff.
Step 4. connect both 4 foot doubled wire meshes to gether to ensure they cover the full area inside you Gtent. And dont forget to take into cncideration, that you may need to pull the scrog in an out of the Gtent otherwise your half screwed!
step 5. begin threading a piece of bambo cane threw the wired mesh on the outside of each edge to form a square! Obviously that will use up 4 of the cames. The 5th cane can be used to thread threw the center of the ScroG mesh to ensure it cant be forcefully pushed up by the plants as they grow up.
You can use a 6th to build a cross on the inside of the mesh to toughen up your Scrog in the center as some wire mesh is not the worlds toughest but ive found using 1 cane threw the center works fine. and it supports the wire to make it more even and not droopy in the center of the mesh.
Step 6. when you have moved the Scrog into your Gtent, use the twisty ties to attach the to each corner of your Gtents poles at the height you have choosen to allow it to work for when you grow out your plants.
I cant really deny them twisty ties are a godsend, when it comes to home made designs for Scrog if you dont have access to wood since they can be untied an adjusted without any hassle for anyone wishing to raise of lower there SCRoG during the grows early stages.
If all mesurements are right an you can easily life the SCrog an move it into an out of yourGtent without it interfearing with the wilma system or the lighting above it. then There you have it.
Its not the very best homemade SCroG setup on earth, im aware of that but for the job in hand im confident it will cover my leap into SCroG experince as a beginners stage!
A ScroG home made for about £30 and have left overs to allow you to make another Scrog at a future date!
And this is a picture giving you a visal image of what it looks like as im still doing final testing before i finally get my first hydro grow started.
P.S I will say if you wanted to raise/Lower the ScroG during the later stages of the grow, it might become a problem since the bigger the lants get the ticker there stems will be. And the only way to remove it froma round the plants., would involve wire cutters to cut it out from around the playts since wilma big 4 plants in there 18 Litre pots will produce pretty big plants if all goes well.
