Welcome to my grow journal! This is my second overall grow and below are the specs:
600 watt HPS/MH
4' x 4' x 7' tent, very sturdy and well-designed (not 100% sure on the dimensions, I'll update after I check)
400 cfm 8'' in-line fan + 25 ft of ducting (lol so fun to play with, can't even)
17 gallon heavy-duty storage bin (from Lowe's)
Rockwool and hydroton (more to be added soon, need to buy another bag :P)
3.5'' net pots
A whole lot of reflective tape (plan to switch to that panda shit soon, or mylar)
Advanced Nutrients Jungle Juice line with GO Bio Root, Aquashield, neem oil extract, and of course pH up and down
Cheap pH and TDS meters
397 gph sub. pump
Bagseeds from good mids (no choice at this moment)
I didn't mention some of the miniscule and obvious things, but that's the basics of it. I plan to add a few more things to the shelf soon, such as cal/mag, bud booster, and other necessary tools/solutions. I'd appreciate any sort of respectful feedback, and look forward to discussing things with you all. Thanks friends

Thanks. :P I'm interested to see what exactly is going to be growing. I like the surprise from growing bag seeds. I did half bag seed half legit seed last time, and to my amazement actually grew some unique, dank shit. So time will tell.

I don't have the luxury of working with known strain seed, so bag seed is a way of life for me. So far it's worked out well, with a few surprises along the way. I agree, the whole unknown thing is fun - and more of a challenge, in that you need to be observant of what manifests from the wee little sprouts. Hopefully you happened upon a few choice embryos that will do you well

Okay, since I'm bored, I suppose I'll talk a little bit about why I'm sticking with DWC (same as first grow) and I'll tack on some old pics of my first grow.

It's to my understanding that DWC can provide top-notch results whilst remaining a simple and cheap setup. This has already proven itself to be true. For my last/first grow, we used DWC 5 gal buckets for the majority of the time past seedling/young veg stage. It was just easier to maintain correct reservoir settings per strain since we had mixed seed bank and bag seeds growing.
By late vegetative stage, we had certain plants exceed my own height and I am 6ft 4 in tall, this isn't including the height of the bucket. Even throughout flowering, the growth just wouldn't stop, granted I did no topping or training because my partner interfered with that. The plant ended up being over 7ft tall in a walk-in closet with the others not far behind... So what I'm saying is... it's hard to argue with that type of vigorous growth and root mass. DWC essentially allows the plant to somewhat choose for itself it's own rate of growth seeing how an endless amount of water/nutrients is available at all times.

So here are LAST GROW'S pics, or all the one's I could find anyway. You can tell which ones are bag seed and which one is the Critical 47 hah. But yeah, this was done with DWC, GH 3-part nutes, and a shitty little 400w light for the entire closet of 8 pants. Obviously, this next grow is predicted to be much, much better in quality. The reason why I'm putting all of this old shit here is because I never made a journal for my first grow, and because I want side-by-side comparisons. Thanks :3

p.s. Ignore the pic titled "Swiss Cheese," that isn't from this grow. Accidentally attached it and it won't delete so fug it

In for updates.

Be careful with the power strip on the floor and dealing with gallons of water.

Are you using tap water or RO?

I intend on tying up all those loose wires and getting the strips off the ground. I took those pictures RIGHT when we finished putting the essentials together, but thank you for the reminder. :)
It's tap water. I don't think it's city water though, seeing how most of the houses in my area are supplied via filtered pond or well water. I'll have to ask my buddy where he gets his agua. The fresh ppm was only 180 or so, which isn't bad at all. Believe me, I'd like to RO filter my water but I just don't have that kind of money yet.

It's been a while, so here is an update. Two plants have obviously sprouted and grown a bit, the other four have yet to sprout. The rockwool wasn't getting enough moisture for the other four to germinate so I repositioned the bubble stones and adjusted the medium. They're at 16 days from when I put the seeds straight into the woooool, ungerminated. I also completely rewired the entire tent after I took these pics, so now everything is off of the ground and nice and tidy :3. Okay. Now that all that is out of the way...

These plants. They're growing extremely quickly, the spaces between nodes are SO short (<1 in.), and the root structures... my GOD. They look like cabbage plants. They're obviously indica. I'm rather excited. You've probably noticed something took a bite out of one side of the newest growth on the first plant. I have no idea what it is, I thoroughly sweeped the environment for various pests, the reservoir is clean, roots are white.. The tent is almost always zipped. I'm not really worried at this point because these strange noms have happened before in previous grows, just every once in a while. I have a neem oil solution locked and loaded if I do find anything.

Here's a small update (no pics this time, sorry):

The FIM growth is coming along nicely on both plants. Dealing with a slight cal/mag problem, which I knew was going to happen. I have some cal/mag coming in the mail so whatever. Treating with epsom and soon to try coffee for the calcium. I figured that would be much better than eggshells and calcium nitrate is difficult to find locally.

I yanked the sixth seedling to replace it with a bag seed I found of Mr. Nice. I bought an eighth of it and found one fat ass seed, freaked out, and germed it. The strain is legit, it came from a dispensary in San Fernando Valley. So that's exciting news, RIGHT?!

Ns DWC grow.i'm just a simple soil grower but i'll chk it out .subbed.peace.
Thanks for the sub :)

Oh, and here is my plan if the Mr. Nice is male:

I'm going to pollinate one of the likely Mexican bag seed females with the Mr. Nice pollen, and I'm going to call it Senor Bueno. FYI: "bueno" can mean "nice" in Spanish. ahh? AHH?

Here are the two before I moved them to buckets. I also tossed one of the other 4 because it had deformed leaf growth from the get go and wouldn't sprout completely. So I now have 3 in the tote, and 2 larger plants in the buckets. I'll update with pics eventually. They're recovering from FIMming very nicely, new growth and all. :)

Humidity is around 60%, I have been running 24/0 the entire time, temp is mid 70s.

Started with AN Jungle Juice 3 part, switched to my good ole GH Flora 3 part because I enjoy the pH buffer in it :3 and they're practically the same thing. They're at just over week 4.
