Can you use only rockwool throughout the whole grow?

If I get a 3x3x3 cube to transfer the seedling I have in a 1.5x1.5.x1.5 cube and I keep getting bigger blocks as the root system grows can I grow a whole plant from seed to harvest in rockwool cubes and hand watering?

It's cheap and it seems convenient that the smaller cube fits into the bigger one and there's no mess like with peat moss. But what are some medias you recommend?

As above ,, yes you can.
There are "slabs" of Rockwool available out there. You put your cube on that when the roots out grow the cube. This works well in Ebb systems.

Rockwool works great in Ebb systems for SOG technique. The idea being that you begin flowering out at like 8 to 12 inch's!

Not a good idea. Roots left in 'wool will not support a very large plant. So you are inviting runt-city, eh? BigSteve.

I have grown 3' plants using 5x5 cubes in an ebb and flow. It works fine I have even seen guys using it in regular potting containers and hand watering with large plants 4-5 feet. So yes it works and is not very expensive and easy to use.

Yes you can . I put my clones that start in the 1 1/2 " little cubes and then put them into a 4" cube that has the hole already cut out. This is how I veg my girls . When ready for flower , I stack the 4" cube on top of a 6" block and take this all the way to flower . I get massive yields. If anybody says different , they have not tried this before and just talking. I can pull 3 to 4 ozs off each plant this way. I have been doing this for four years now so I KNOW it will work .

I grow using Ebb-n Flow or called Flood and Drain . I have never had or seen root rot and I never have deficiencies . No hydroton or anything else but the rockwool blocks. Plenty of room for root mass .

This is how I stack them . The little cubes in the middle were just waiting for me to get to hydro shop later in the day.
