Can you live on minimum wage? (Calculator)

It is math, and here is how I figure it. $1K per hr x 6 hrs per month = $6000 a month = Uncle Buck. You can make money the old fashion way, but there are other ways.

Sorry UB.
Math for demonstration purposes only. His numbers may vary. Don't use for amusement, but there is no risk. No animals were harmed in the making of this fiasco, er...post.

What I especially love is that buck's data actually suggests that the min wage should actually be REDUCED, yet he argues for increasing it. Makes no sense to me.
are you still crying because i showed you over and over and over again that min wage wins in the end, just like i said i would?

no, they are sourced and come from the BLS, as was stated many times.

if you need a shoulder to cry on, go talk to nodrama. he can help you.
funny i dont see any source in that shitpost.

from the safeway: http://shop.safeway.com/
Eggs
lowest price:Egglands best 1 dozen large eggs: $2.79 (after $1.40 "club" discount)
Highest price: Barnstar cage free 1 dozen eggs $4.39

Bread

highest price (whole wheat): sarah lee whole wheat 24oz $5.49
highest price (white): Wonder "classic" 20oz $4.39
lowest price (any): "pantry essentials" 16oz $1.09 (shag nasty)

Milk
highest price: Horizon "organic" 1gal $8.29
lowest price: "pantry essentials" 1gal $4.79

so yeah the BLS is full of shit.

they were only close on the cheapest lowest quality discount "bread" available, and way fucking off even on "wonder" which is also trash.

on milk and eggs they were so far off the mark i can only assume they indulged in careful shopping from the dumpster behind the piggly wiggly in tuscaloosa alabama.

As a business owner of multiple restaurants, (no bullshit) I'm not sure if it help or hurts the people out here but I will say this:

i have a labor budget built from our sales. It's a percentage. If our sales go up, I can have more labor. If they go don, I can have less.

if minimum wage is raised, then my budget doesn't change. I just have them work less hours, or I hire less people. I think it's pretty obvious that these businesses don't suddenly find extra money laying around to pay the higher wages. They just fire people and they all work less hours, right? So what's the debate?

The debate is, all the proponents for minimum wage increases have never owned a business.
They think all business owners, literally have a pile of money stashed away but are too greedy to share it.

Oh, got ya. I think it's another Obama promise that's totally screwed up beneath. It sure sounds amazing, but shit, like I said my solution is simple. You were working 39 hours before, now you're working 34, and you're working harder to get he same job done in less time. As mr T said, stay in school, kids! Don't do drugs! (Or else you end up begging for minimum wage to increase and living paycheck to paycheck!)

It's all relative.
How is it all relative?
A $2/hr shift vs a $992/hr shift is like the difference between pressing the accelerator on your car (no big deal) vs being accelerated to 1/2 the speed of light in 3 secs. Chances are your head will explode at that rate of acceleration (literally), hopefully after one passes out from blood flow problems, but in 3 secs, one will probably get to experience all of the exhilaration associated with the quick pain that develops.

If you want to call those two things "relative", go ahead, but their effects are nowhere near comparable.

In the USA? It has already happened. IF wages were $.10 an hour, a loaf of bread would cost 1/2 penny. Labor is THE MOST EXPENSIVE part of running a business. Did you go to ASU also?
You silly fucks can never give a straight answer, can you?

It's funny because silly diversionary tactics like these don't fool anyone. Of course you would hire employees and pay them $.10/hour, which is why regulations need to exist, because people like you are more than willing to take advantage of people to increase profits

cry some more, maybe give some rep to the new sock puppets (who conveniently happen to be self made republicans) that are showing up to wallow in their own sadness because they can't debate the facts on display.

i implore you, crying is the best thing you can do right now, since you clearly can't debate the facts in any way, shape or form.

Chill man, I doubt anyone on this weed forum is really crying over a debate about minimum wage. No need to be an ass and get all crazy about it and make yourself look like an ass in the process.

im sure the minimum wage will be raised. It's obama's newest push, and it will get done before he leaves office. Unfortunately it's not going to alleviate any of our country's problems, specifically the need to create more jobs so the growing population and lower class can work and earn those higher wages we're debating. Instead, you'll have the same pool of low skilled peeps now making more money... Which of course in turn means they'll spend more of it because that's what they do (we all know they don't save it), and it ends up in the hands of the employers, which is the original problem Democrats are so embittered about. Oh, and also those higher paid but lower skilled people will only work less hours and have a harder time landing a job in the first place because employers will have a stricter hiring policy since they're paying more. Sounds like another retarded idea to me.

I actually enjoy math as well as commonsense...1000 from 2 dollars is a big leap. I can adjust on 2 an hour...not with 1000. Why can't people here have a conversation without blowing things out of proportion
What would you possibly have to adjust other than the extraordinary income you already make? Didjano that all business owners are greedy sumsabitches and most make so much money, a piddly little $2 an hour barely makes a dent in all the money you rake in each year?

No one is trying to blow things out of proportion, but the argument stands with some that $2 an hour will not cause any prices to go up on anything. Why would a larger number cause problems, but not a small one?

What employee is going to work for .10 an hour???? The answer is NONE!!!

Which is why wages are COMPETITIVE!!! You are worth what you can produce when compared with the populace.

You seem to have no confidence in your abilities so you want the government to force someone to pay you what you think you are worth, not what they think you are worth.

The result will be the loss of jobs for everyone including you because the person writing the paychecks isnt stupid...

I am sure you will start demanding that employers hire people regardless of need too!!!

Lol buck, I may have missed a ton of this thread... Well yeah I did I just skip to the end I suppose... But what on earth are you saying? I haven't read anything that's made sense from you yet. Seems like you've had had a few and are just trolling perhaps.
