Where is that diagram from??? cause you definitely don't want the tap root to break through the soil(light/heat). The tap root goes towards moisture(survival), normally heading south.

Bout time I here a good come back...from D not Pee. I thought every serious grower new that...I go about 3/8" into soil, and common sense tells you the root makes its way down duh. You guys need to quit being paper towel 'puss n boots', and grow a pair of nanners 
Oh and my bent over lady stem, is recovering (with the help of a band aid), and waiting to blossom on you bums.

Maybe a botanist can chime in?????? Never did paper towel method, but if it works for them......I see no problem. Now in the design of the mj seed itself it would seem through evolution that the POINT is what will bury itself easier from a fall from the plant??? IDK

True as long as the depth is right. I have popped too many, and notice the tip up method gives me less hull issues and a little quicker sprout. I used to do tip down until I seen this chart and tried it. I've also done horizontal. They all work...I just prefer tip up for above reasons.
I will not answer Psu until he apologizes for all his insensitive comments.

Here's my first update. Couple of my seeds were too fresh and didn't crack, so I'm germing a couple more now. This one is a Goji OG S1. Put in to water 2/17, popped from dirt 2/20. 400w HPS.
