Welcome everyone, I decided to start a new grow journal. Feel free to comment or ask questions.

This next project I have started involves a couple experiments as well as breeding for some seeds for a possible outdoor grow. I have plenty of smoke for my needs from the last grow so thought I would have some fun and experiment with this one.

I have seen several threads about main-lining and have seen some nice results using the technique. I have a Sleestack x Skunk that I have started to mainline and topped for 8 earlier today. It will be vegging through this flowering cycle.

One Holland's Hope and a Dinafem Amnesia Auto were germinated about 10 days ago that are intended to be the fathers for a feminized breeding project for outdoor seeds. More recently I also started 2 more HH, 2 Amnesia Auto, 1 Critical Plus 2 Auto, and 1 Haze 2 Auto. From my last grow and breeding project I have germinated 2 Harlequin X Sweet N' Sour Widow, 2 Sugar Plum X Jack the RipperxPurpleUrkle, and 2 Jilly Bean X PlushberryxHeadband.

Recently, I traded some seeds on vacation. I have germinated 1 K#1 and 2 K#5 (yet to give them a good name). K#7 is having trouble germinating (3rd bean is in soil now). Haven't tried planting the K#2 or #4 yet. They are all acclimated to a wetter hotter climate.
The seedlings so far:

From the last grow I had several large plants/clones in my veg room. Too many, so I got rid of most of them. I kept one large Jack Herer, one large #4 Sweet N' Sour Widow, one medium Sugar Plum, one lanky Sleestack X Skunk, and one larger Jilly Bean (sacrificial... explanation and pics later).

The plan as of now is to flower out the larger clones from the last grow for more smoke/medicine. And, to make feminized seeds of Holland's Hope, crosses of the autos, and HH crossed to the seeds I traded for. It will be a learning experience, and should be interesting... :joint:

Thanks Popcorn, looking to have some fun with this grow! If I get some good beans, learn a bit, and get some good smoke I will be very happy.

The Jilly Bean I mentioned above as "sacrificial" is just that. Horror of all horrors, I completed the first round of defoliation on her. This is a one time experiment in an attempt to learn more about how the plant adapts and changes it's growth in reaction to a different stress (defoliation). If she hermies I will report it, if she dies I will report it, if she puts out weak disappointing growth/buds I will report it. If on the other hand she does well and adapts to the regimen of defoliation I plan I will also report that. I realize this will not settle any debate over whether defoliation is sacrilege or a valid technique, that is not my goal. I am simply experimenting and trying to learn more about the plant we all grow... thats it. I read an article that a member I respect posted recently about defoliation. This journal is not going to focus on defoliation as a valid technique, it will be a very small part of what I am trying to accomplish and learn about. I have never before defoliated a plant. Personally, I have always been of the opinion that a plants leaves are essential to producing the maximum amount of photosynthesis for plant and bud growth and maximizing overall yield. In addition they are a reserve store of nutrients, when the plant needs something it is not getting from the soil it can pull nutrients from the leaves. These points do not need to be explained to me... this is an EXPERIMENT.

It looks alot better with all that veg cut out. damn thats a bushy plant. Watch how fast it re-veg's, this time next week you won't be able to tell you cut all that leaf out.

Thanks jointed, I am convinced of the healing power of CBD. I have done quite a bit of research on it. Your post reminded me that I forgot to mention I recently picked up a Sour Tsunami #3 and a The Remedy clone. It took a while to track them down from good sources. The Sour Tsunami was tested at 10.9% CBD and .38% THC, The Remedy I have seen tested at 12.09% CBD and .66% THC. The dispensary where I picked up The Remedy clone showed me a recent report of a test where they got The Remedy clone to produce 17% CBD. They are small clones right now and I need to take cuttings for someone else who needs them, so I won't be flowering them anytime soon.

I have made strong butter out of these strains before. They are good medicine.

One of the Jilly Bean X PlushberryxHeadband seedlings got a soft stem and collapsed, I propped it up but I think it is a gonner. Also, it looks like one of the Holland's Hope beans is not going to sprout so I will only have 2 of those. I was afraid of the medium staying a little too moist because I ran out of perlite and just decided to start them anyway, the supersoil in the bottom of the pots has plenty of perlite in it though so drainage should be fine for those that root. I am very happy that all 6 of the seeds I created recently popped the soil though.

As soon as I can get rid of the last few plants I don't need I will be flipping to either 12/12 or 13/11 (due to having autos). I have read that the only real issue with autos on 12/12 is a lower yield, but I am not as worried about that as I am mainly after seeds on this round anyway. I am thinking I will try to flip the lights in about a week.

The Jilly Bean I defoliated has bounced back very quickly and looks healthy and happy. It doesn't seem that stressed, so I might take the opportunity to defoliate more of the leaves toward the center and bottom of the plant soon. It will have about a week to recover...

All looking good. I myself just make my own soil at least then I know what's in it. I got bad news today so I am back to trying to get some air-pot's. Can it be that fucking hard to get them in Canada? I'm having a hard time getting them.

Thanks man, I make my own supersoil too. I start with a high quality soil like FFOF or Edna's Best, then amend with worm castings, dolomite lime, blood meal, bone meal, azomite, epsom salt, and perlite. I am getting ready to drill a bunch of holes in some pots to do a getto/DIY airpot treatment. I will post some pics of the additional defoliation I did today on the Jilly Bean, a bit later or maybe tomorrow.

Yeah, DIY is the way to go IMO whenever possible. I have always loved building things, if you want something done right, do it yourself. Not only is it usually built better for less money but you gain valuable skills too. It would be fun to post some pics of projects, but I just won't risk being identified by neighbors or people I hang out with that don't know I grow. Shit, I even paint over door jams and trim just to be on the safe side (like in the pics below).

Yesterday, I defoliated the Jilly Bean a bit more taking out a lot more of the middle hard to get to leaves as well as some more all around. She is now looking pretty sparse, but will have about 3 weeks until the next trimming if all goes as planned.

Looks alright. That indigo green hurts my eye's bro(It's me)So I can't look at them long.

Hey Cas Cheeb already started another thread asking how much his harvest is going to be, guess he's not all that worried about the yellowing going on with the plant he posted about in the first thread. If I could I would reach out through net land and cuff him right upside his damn head. BTW your inbox is full....J
