Germination to seedling

I have successfully germinated 5/5 using 6 paper towel method within 31hrs..:hump:

Soil-less medium is 60/40 Canna Coco/Course Per-lite with extra layer per-lite on bottom of cup to limit clogs.

Soil-less medium lightly watered with 5.8PH and allowed to drain through 5-6 10D nail size holes in bottom of cup.

Taproots 1/4-1/2" taproot planted pointed down 1/2" below soil surface in red solo cup...lol.

Using cake dome for solo cups and placed back in germination area which is under sink.

:confused:Should I place in grow room with T5 twin 14W 6700k grow lights at 2"-4" from top of cup to promote more warmth or leave where I germinated them?

There are different views about how to accomplish 100% sprout rate after germination.

Strain: Liberty Haze Feminized

Congratulations on the successful germination. You can put them under the lights.

I would move it a little closer so when they do pop out they don't stretch for the light. I use cfl's for my seedling but think it's the same for t-5's. I would recommend taking the dome off, because for seedlings to much humidity will cause the seedling to dampen off and die.

I have grown Liberty Haze my self and it was one of my biggest inside yields. It responded real well to mainling.

Time to stick them in soil and under some lightsossible CFL or MH unless you want to do 12/12 from seed then use HPS.

I have a similar question but regarding the light to use. What size CFL should i get for the seedlings? anyone recommend a particular model for seedlings?

The main thing is you want to get a day light bulb. If you look you can find them 6500k but the 5000k will work also. I just buy cheap 23w(100 watt =) bulbs and have a board with 4 $2 light sockets on it. I've been using this with the same bulbs for over a year and you can fit a bunch of seedlings or clones under this.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I will move to the room and lights while removing them from my make shift humidity dome.

Thank you very much for your quick reply,

Now under lights per your suggestion.

:confused:Should I set the timer for the 18/6 they will live under or give them 24hr light?

:confused:If 24hr lights for seedling when should I switch the schedule? After they sprout or when they go under the MH?

They will be vegetating under a 400W MH and flowering under a 400W HPS.

Captspliff,

From what I have read a 42W 6500k CFL would be ideal. Figure two per plant to begin.

They are a bit on the expensive side, but perhaps worth the add 5-10$ expense per bulb.

Hope this helps,

[h=1]Hi, thefunofit
What about this : MiniSun 20w SES E14 Energy Saving Daylight CFL Spiral Bulb , says its 6500k.
Its £8.00 ?[/h]Presume it fits in a normal lamp socket like a bed reading lamp?
If I get two of those for the seedlings and then after 3 weeks stick them in the greenhouse.
I know...dumbo questions, sorry for this....

in the test that i have done there are no benefits from growing under 24 hour light unless the temps are really low at night,18/6

Those look fine.

Again from what I have read you will need two per plant until they outgrow their two lights which seems to be when the plant can no longer be kept 2-4" from the cfl you provide
