So could a person buy one from say Lowe's or off Amazon and put a 730 nm far red led in it?This lamp is an LED Flood lamp very common in boat shops and patio lighting, last year,...this lamp has a modified chip to enhance the deeper red bands, and they are getting popular with noobies moving out of CFL's, with the daylight chip is better or floodlight with the 6500k chip, I do like these leds, but still cannot get my head around how they actually measure these fantastic lumen readings ....?
I have 3 of the 10 watt versions and they cover a 8'x 8' area each. You can build one with quality parts for about $100 or a little less but without the flood case,if you build a few you could save a little more.http://growlightsource.com/products/led-grow-lights/the-flower-initiator-20-watt-far-red-ip65-indoor-outdoor-grow-lamp/ Does anyone know anything about this light?
Those are 60lmpwI bought one of these

the ones marked 6500k right now I'm using it at work, and this is very white and strong, right now I'm using HO t5's in a 8 lamp fixture, but I was thinking of buying the ceramic bases and screwing them into a 1" think piece of plywood say 4' long by 24" wide and planting six of these beauties and doing agrow and testing against the 400w t5 fixture , not sure 6 of these would have the light penetration the 8 t5 bulbs have, but it sure would be fun, either way 6 of these would only be 156 watts
only thing is the t5 fixture with 8 6500k bulb sells for 173.00 on ebay, 6 of these bulbs would be a lot more with bases and wood. I know the wattage pays for itself in one year
I've never found a 730 nm multi chip to buy, only 3 watt stars.I think some of you are not getting what I asking. I'm wanting to know if I could buy one of those flood lights from Lowe's or Home Depot and replace the led with a 730 nm far red led?
the link all show 2700k yukThose are 60lmpw
Would be better off with any of these 3. They also make 5000K too if you want to add a little extra blue leaning light.

Here's a $3.63 no-name from Led Group Buy - http://www.ledgroupbuy.com/hyper-far-red-730nm/I've never found a 730 nm multi chip to buy,only 3 watt stars.
This is not a replacement for a main light its a supplement just read the site you link it says to use in the last hour of the day to boost production....I think some of you are not getting what I asking. Yoda, you still don't understand op's purpose for wanting the 730nm far red light. Running for that "1 hour" (which is longer than necessary truth be told) manipulates phytochrome response in plants before lights out. Search Google for "far red phytochrome photoperiodism pfr" and photomorphogenisis to learn about the benefitsThis is not a replacement for a main light its a supplement just read the site you link it says to use in the last hour of the day to boost production....
and add one of those flood Gaius just posted and rip the guts out and solder in the 730nm.make your own initiator....

Would be great if op wanted red instead of far red
I stand corrected. Plus they have a few blue diodes in them. Great supplemental light for 3000K COBS tho.Would be great if op wanted red instead of far red
