Week 5 of Flowering...

Just want some thoughts on how you guys think I am doing...

Tent: 5x5x7
Lighting: 400 HPS was using 1000 watt for the first few weeks of flowering...
Soil: Happy Frog
Nutes: Botanicare three part Base+Grow+boom and Bio Genesis Mineral Matrix 3 drops pre gallon..
Veg Time 2 months under 96 watt T5...

this is my first grow and money has been tight getting my set up right so some things done last minute but the next go will be better... I just wanted to know your guys thoughts on how I am doing so far anymore info you guys need just let me know...

looks pretty good to me for your first grow. hopefully the stretch has or will subside soon. i am no expert but i think the scrog could be used to even out the canopy so you could get more even light coverage. i did my first scrog my last grow and was able to keep the colas all about the same height. i don't have the nice lights that you do though. i am using just t5's and some cfl's. keep up the good work!

Yeah I am pretty sure the stretch is over thought but didn't have money to get a net before they got all big so they didn't grow into the net..I had to putt it on few days ago for support did the best i can for my first grow...thanks tips...

You changed from 1000w to 400w???
If I've understood this correctly, and you did downsize by 600w (and 60%)
WHY???

2 main factors why I down sized the light is money is tight to run it and until I get a few grows under me I feel it is waste...also that is only 2 plants one in 5 gallon other in 7 gallon never wanted too veg that long but my flowering tent wasn't ready so they got a lot bigger then I wanted...

i get about a quarter pound off my grows using less than 300 watts total(last grow was 2 plants). 400 watts should hook you up in my opinion to start with. i am on my third grow and still use only t5's and cfls and have under 300 watts. my buds are not super dense but my kids buddies all want to know where they get their killer weed from...

I downsized to a 400w about 2 years ago (after I got busted with my 600 setup).

I tend to grow 4x2ft tall plants in 3gallon containers with some training etc.


I average around an elbow (that's a pound right? 16oz?) sorry I'm from the UK so don't know the yank terminology too well.



400's can be rocked well in my opinion, you just need to remember that you get around 2.5ft of penetration power, less again if you have a dense canopy.

Make good use of the light with plant training and environmental control and yields will follow.



OP they look good for a first grow.

My first grow rocked a 600w magnetic with 2 plants. One Hermied and the other finished with 36g dry on her.

i am shooting for about a gram per watt. a pound would be a bit over that but i use wussy lighting so i probably wont acheive that. with the lighting heisenberg has, he may get there though.

I understand about the money factor and the lighting situation your going through so I won't say "You should change to the 1K for better yields/results". But I might say that until your $ capitol is in the right shape to run the 1K full time in flower. You might consider using it during the last 2 weeks before wash in the bulking phase and run that 400 during the early/mid flowering period......That may help the end result???

For me in a 5x5, under 1K HPS, with 2 gallon pots my plants average yield would be between 4-4.5 zips per plant and a touch higher for 3 gallon pots. Yeah I know the rule of thumb for pot size is 1 zip per gallon. But you'll be able to dbl that in time, if you try.... Topping, Super cropping and Lolly popping are part of the formula for that.

5x5? I'd put the 1k back in. Your talking like thirty bucks a month more for electric for double the yield....no brainer

Shit I wish dude it took my bill up $75 more a month and can't do that right now but can do like $30-40 bucks a month.. I can do that and thats what I think it will be after seeing the bill after one month of running my 1K watt light...
