"the more I read the less I know"
this is generally an excepted truth

read things that start with abstract, stalk up people you feel are knowledgeable. do all your own research

ive never learned anything on a weed forum..but ive given out a lot..thats all any of us are doing for the most part..theres alot of good info out here, but so many contradicting posts its too confusing if you dont really know. just read read and read.

i dont top, lst or anything.
i always average the same ALWAYS that is around 4oz a plant. well between 3.7 and 4.4.

First of all, everyone in this thread is wrong........lol just j/k. I agree with everyone here. Good post OP, very observant how forums can be. Even the automotive forums where things should be universal thruths, people will argue. Just don't let it piss ya off and you'll be good.

I personally have always wondered how many ways there actually are to skin a cat....all i can think of is with a knife. What other methods could possibly be used?

Anyway, i learnt a lot by reading through multiple forums at great length and depth for months before beginning to grow. I don't think many will have incredible success the first tine around but for the inexperienced its a learning process. In fact considering no one has the exact same growing conditions it isn't sensible to assume that what works for done people will work for you....trial and error, different strains, etc etc best way to learn about something is to do it Even so.... in general the information is out there. My first grow was terrible even after informing myself as much as possible. don't be afraid t make mistakes

You want my honest advice here? Quit listening to everyone else and only listen to me.

I AM AN EXPERT!!!!

So everybody is an expert....well by readings hundreds of post over the last year I'm worn out.
If you hang out on these forums you know what I mean. For every question there are multiple answers. For every guy that said this another guy said that’s wrong. People post answers to questions that have no experience or a friend told them or I read that or he said this. Now this of course is not everybody but the vast majority of post are like that.
I do understand that there is more than one way to do it. People talking as if they are stating fact or giving out science as if they have a science degree in cannabis cultivation. Now there are folks that document there grows and share what they have learned from experience. That’s all good assuming that they are telling the truth.
So Where IS all the real science? Is it too early for science from labs about cultivation? Why is there nobody from working commercial growing facilities talking about the results they get?
The more I read the less I know. Please point me in the right direction if I just don’t know where to find it. I’m tired of the hearsay. I just want to learn more about growing with out the 95% BS filter on.

Anyone that takes advice from this forum without doing their own due diligence is an idiot and deserves whatever happens. That being said, if I'm stumped on something I welcome as many different perspectives as I can get. I've learned a lot here and it doesn't take long to figure out who you really trust and who is blowing smoke. Hard for me to complain about advice I didn't have to pay for.

When you say "works", what do you mean? PK boosters do work, at boosting P and K!

What does it mean for a 72 hour dark period before harvest to work or not work? What is the goal? What if people are doing the right things for the wrong reasons? What if there's some half truth to most myths?

You say that a lot of these things run contrary to other crops, but do you really know that? It's normal when dealing with tobacco crops to increase P toward harvest for a smoother burning product. Even though it seems like we all love plants, most marijuana cultivators grow in hopes to "get rich quick".

If you studied the starch/sugar pathways in plants, you'd realize that high cellular inorganic P levels inhibits an enzyme called AGPase. AGPase is responsible for converting sugars into starches. Factors that regulate the level of AGPase are thus responsible for controlling the partitioning of photosynthetic flux. What this means is that a P deficiency toward harvest will cause your product to be more starchy. This is stuff most growers just aren't interested in despite being fascinating.. "How big will my yields be????"

or PK boosters work, or that de-chlorinating water is necessary or that Amber trichs give you couch-lock, or a 72 hour dark period before harvest works, or any number of things that you do to weed but runs horticultural contrary to every other known plant on the planet...

The need to add a product called cal-mag to RO/distilled water is one of the biggest myths out there, and yet a consensus number of people here believe it.

Looking for a consensus can work well, but not when everyone has a consumerist mentality. ("he gets cal-mag, why can't I have it too? No fair!!" *buys*) It's the same reason you see upper middle class folks with allclad pans and a decked out kitchen but have no ability to cook.

cal/mag.......m..

Some more myths:

-Don't feed seedlings

-Don't feed clones

- 250ppm in DWC can cause nute burn.

- 250ppm is a good starting point

- manufacturer's suggested full strength will kill your plants

- "chemicals" taste bad.

Hay gaiz,

If I grow in a 3x3 area, how big will my yield be if I grow 100 plants? How many plants will I need to yield 2 pounds??

agree with everything else...cept this.

straight ro water and good roots @ 5-7 days usually.

you are saying nutes would speed this up??? I have found this is not the case.

edit: I don't even bother ph'ing the water anymore for them. just 7ml/gallon h202

Uh-oh
Are you insinuating science is learned from books or a third party.
So in essence scientists are just wannabes.
Oh well I hear they have very smokeable
marijuana cigarettes. :)
