Drying in the Dark?

Meaning, they have begun the dying process before we cut them, correct?

but yea its done after you determine the amber/cloudy/clear ratio that suits it and you...after that, any further light is degrading your product..which some prefed and let it amber a bit, just a bit

I've personally seen villagers dry weed by laying it on a tarp in an open wetland with sun exposure all day and the smoke is killer.

I'm thinking the weed could have been even better if dried in a cool dark place?
Maybe bringing out the smokes full potential instead of just settling with, even if it's killer?
I think this is one of the reasons some of us like to have are grows dialed in or try too and so
it seems that there is always room for improvement.

Yes, that's exactly what I am saying. It may not LOOK better but the stuff that nature is growing herself is killer and needs not be fucked with. And please don't speak until you have travelled outside of the US and tried the weeds that grow in other places because otherwise what you have to say is complete heresy without a trial and error comparison of your own.

California nugs are completely overrated because of marketing and Cali revolutionizing the marijuana is perceived in the United States. Yes, there is killer weed grown in California. Colorado and Washington and Michigan and Kentucky, and Florida, and Oklahoma, etc, but until you taste something that is grown in the tropics with the same level of care as experienced growers in those states just mentioned then you might as well keep the bs to yourself. I HAVE been all over the world, and I still call bullshit on your exaggerations. I said it before, and I'll say it again, third world bush weed will NEVER compare to what real dedicated growers produce. But keep being swept up in the over hyping and mythologizing of poorly grown village weed. I bet you trust village medicine when you get sick too huh? BTW I have a couple bridges in new york to sell you....

I am still looking for science on the Light vs. Dark question. All the responses seem to be based on personal experience with no Science or Chemistry involved. I believe in personal experience but I also believe that is not a definitive answer to anything!

Wouldn't it stand to reason that if a plant is producing THC while it is alive that we should dry them partially in the light and then turn the lights off as they dry further? They don't die as soon as we cut them. It is a slow death that we force when we remove their feeding mechanism.

For example... If you were to remove my ability to eat and drink it would take my body many days to perish. In that time my system would continue to actively work to protect my life, using up it's reserves, etc.. In other words all of my bodily functions would continue the same way THC continues to develop after a plant is cut and hung.

Are things not so black and white?

I posted this in another thread on the same topic, the science backs up my previous answer, but if you want to hear it from the scientists and not from my re-phrasing of it, here it is.

• This the abstract from a paper called The Stability Of Cannabis and its Preparations on Storage
  "Solutions of pure cannabinoids, nine samples of herbal and two of resin cannabis (one freshly prepared) were stored in varying conditions for up to 2 years. Exposure to light (not direct sunlight) was shown to be the greatest single factor in loss of cannabinoids especially in solutions, which should therefore be protected from light during analytical and phytochemical operations. Previous claims that solutions in ethanol were stable have not been substantiated. The effect of temperature, up to 20°, was insignificant but air oxidation did lead to significant losses. These could be reduced if care was taken to minimize damage to the glands which act as “well filled, well closed containers”. Loss of tetrahydrocannabinol after exposure to light does not lead to an increase in cannabinol, but air oxidation in the dark does. I have heard (idk if its bullshit) that Americas weed has gotten significantly more potient just in the last 5 - 20 years due to selective breeding and seeding. I have seen bud that would kill a dog....literally I seen the dog eat an o and started convulsing an hour later

lmao after about 4 hours of I think seizures and then laying there till the next day, waking up and eating her whole bowl of dog food and filling up on water till she was waddling counts as ok, then yeah she was fine. they said she was lucky she didn't eat a lil more or had been a little smaller...shes a pit/mastiff mix lol
