So...apparently a few Harper cronies think there needs to be

Changes to the possession laws.On cbc new tonight, not all conservatives disagree with Justin. Does this seem like a bit of a flip flop? The few , think that it shouldn't be a life sentence for getting caught with a few joints. The problem is going to be not making it look like decriminilization. Could the conservatives possibly be swing the error of their ways? Doubtful, more like thinking of the next election. Even if the conservatives came out and announced that they were going to legalize marihuana, I would still vote for Justin!

On the flip side, last night on the news, there was a doc saying that there is in proof that mari is helpful for Rhuematoid arthritis, or that is helps with musculoskeletal pain. It is apparently only good for cancer patients and end of life situations. When are doctors going to realize that they don't know everything that helps their patients - sometimes patients know more about their bodies.

That Rheumatoid article was so full of contradictions and bunk analysis.

First they say there's no proof, then they talk about a Sativex trial which showed proof of CBD helping Rheum in the same article. It just shows they have such a lack of knowledge on this stuff.

The reporters have to stop allowing these people to get away with claiming there is no proof that MJ is helpful when there is no scientific evidence either way because the governments won't support proper clinical trials. If Trudeau want's to do something useful, that's one thing he should support.

Mackay says new pot legislation under consideration!

So the are thinking about letting the cops fen you instead of criminal charges. What about mandatory minimums?

I read about MacKay working on this recently too. Apparently the police chiefs feel that simple possession isn't worth the time/effort and anything under 30 grams should be fined. Course I haven't seen how steep these fines will be anywhere yet. In regards to mandatory minimums they only apply if they can prove trafficking. Nobody is going to traffic an ounce at a time, and if you are growing for medical reasons I doubt the prosecutors will be able to prove a trafficking charge unless of course you actually are. Didn't we have something similar to this semi decriminalization years ago under Chretien or somebody already?

"doc saying that there isn't proof that mari is helpful for Rhuematoid arthritis"

Looks good on them really. It shows that he knows less than the rest of the medical world. Spain for instance can prove other wise.

The reporter should have asked him what clinical trial he is basing his opinion on.

He dose not have anything to base his opinion on. It's utter non sense.

or asked her where she gets her weed lol "Another issue cited is that the concentration of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in illegal marijuana has typically doubled and often varies between two and 56 per cent" ZAM 56%..
orr about "Mary-Ann Fitzcharles has received consulting fees, speaking fees and/or honoraria from Biovale, Janssen, Lilly, Pfizer, Purdue, and Valeant (less than $10,000)." whiich makes me wonder about thiiis entire statement
"At this time, we cannot recommend herbal cannabis for arthritis pain management given the lack of efficacy data, potential harm from the drug, and availability of other therapies for managing pain… Physicians should discourage rheumatology patients from using medical marijuana as a therapy.” checked out some of her other work too seemed to be sprinkled with a bunch of reefer madness bs..

56% THC hahaha...I want some of what THEY are smoking. Is a 56% THC concentration even possible in a strain? Highest THC strains I've smoked were like 25-28%. Most marijuana around here is like 15-19%. I guess they just like to double numbers for shock value.

I used to live in a smaller community, and they'd report busts in # of joints...hows that for being able to inflate a bust calculation.

And, Sativex is effective treatment in dealing with auto-immune diseases such as RA. Even the article eluded to that...

This has nothing to do with the Chiefs of police or Peter Mckay and everything to do with Harper trying to save his trough-feeding ass. "Not-on-my-watch" Harper said in one of his Christmas interviews in December that the Conservatives would not consider legalization or decriminalization of marijuana. They tried to use Trudeau's stance on legalization to ridicule him and it backfired. Now all of a sudden Mr. tough-on-crime decides to listen to a recommendation from the police to issue fines. When exactly was this report first introduced? How does it differ from the many other studies by police, doctors and even senators that have been turned down over the last 70 years? I smell a vote-chasing wannabe dictator running scared! We won't settle for decrim...LEGALIZE!!!!

It's interesting that the RCMP from BC have made a submission for the government side of the SC case about the evils of marijuana...all the fires, break ins, mould, murder....and on and on ad nauseum. There is no other reason except public opinion is shifting and they happen to be in the wrong side of the issue. I've seen a few polls lately and the average is 75% in favour of legalizing, not just decriminalizing. Now whether or not this is still an issue come 2015, we'll see won't we. It's up to people like us to keep it at the forefront and in the news.

Hey Whatgf are you proposing we should all collectively roll up a fatty and then walk into the police station and give ourselves up?
now if we all do it and anyone else who is a non patient and wants to be involved as well does it...
say 6 or seven time each week for a month...30 times each patient by 40,000 patients = 1 million- 200 hundred thousand potential court cases.....
that would definitely throw a wrench in the gears....i would think.....

Now wouldn't that be funny? It did cross my mind in passing to go and say here I am if you want me. LOL I think as long as we all behave ourselves, we'll make it to decriminalization or legalization in tact. I don't really think they are looking for me or you - they want the big idiots that have ruined this program in favour of a few mortgage payments, instead of getting a job like most people have to do. I am so glad I didn't go the dg route, even if for a few months because I would rather be in debt to the cc company than to carry some responsibility for mmar's demise.

Knowing how the process in Ottawa works, how long it takes to hold committee meetings, issue reports, write laws, pass laws, write regulations, publish in the gazette, have public input in regulations, change regulations, approve regulations, publish in the gazette and receive royal assent..... Then.... implement the regulations and start a functioning marijuana market... I'm going out on a limb and saying 5-6 years. IF Trudeau gets elected in 2015, and IF legalization is one of the first things he works on.
