Easty's 2014 single plant grow- Mako shark

Hi all,

Now that my clone has rooted I thought it was time to get my new journal started so here it is.

Strain: Mako Shark (my own creation of DJ Short Blueberry x Mr Nice Shark Shock)
System: Recirc hydro
Medium: 100% perlite
Nutrients: Cyco range
Lighting: 400w MH for grow and 400w HPS for flower
Air movement: 1 intake 45w, 1 exhaust 45w and 1 desk fan inside. Will add another inside once she gets bigger.
Method of grow: SCRoG

Ok here we go.
Nutes used:
Grow A and B- 30mL to 30L of water
Silica- 6mL to 30L (found this was keeping my pH too high so will keep a little bit in)
Dr Repair- 25mL to 30L
B1 Boost- 25mL to 30L (might stop this though as its leaving scum on top of the water)
Rhizotonic- 120mL to 30L
Plain tap water
All pH'd to 5.8

Cheers for being here guys, after growing out this cross in soil, I'm very keen to see how frosty she gets in hydro! Glad you guys could pop in for the sub :-D

Yea scroga straight perlite. I've seen a lot of grows with straight perlite mostly hempy but a lot of people are starting to use it in recirculating hydro systems and it works wonders. It ph neutral and inert which means no salt build up and no fungi or bacteria can live in it which makes for a great medium to grow in. I'm using the exact same system in my grow check it out. 1000w 18gal hydro recirculating system same nutes. You should try the straight perlite it's awesome plants love it and grow really fast and who doesn't love a medium where you don't have to worry about bacteria forming in it.

Well actually, perlite may be inert but it is very porous (sp) which means beneficial bacteria can grow, it just doesnt allow fungus ;)

Eastcoast said it right. You won't have anything growing in it that won't benefit you. Next grow try it out I'm sure you will love it and will prolly never go back to whatever you use now.

Mo,i'm having this green fungus growing in my dome.It's probably due to high humidity ? How dangerous is that ? It's like a green coloured soil on top of the small starting pots..More pics please !

No need to stress man its just algae from being too moist and being exposed to light, its nothing to worry about mate. It will go away when the plants are bigger and shade the pot :)
Im looking forward to the pics too man :-D

Heheh.Good thing.They grow pretty well and i didn't want any mold fuckin' them up.I was thinking to make a supersoil.I got some stuff i can mix so i'll probably be able to pull it off.Use some bat guano and see how they respond to ''flowering'' nutes ? Worths a try!

I'll definitely jump on the perlite bandwagon. Love the stuff, it is a versatile medium and easy to work with.

Qroox, you can also spray the algae with a diluted hydrogen peroxide solution to kill the algae off if it gets too bad. Just lightly mist the top of the perlite.

Yeah..!! Jorge C. was removing PM from harvested buds with that solution.I'm not at that stage and i'm using soil..I also saw that the small pots i removed from the dome got back to normal..well at least !. I'll be uploading some goodies guyz.Can get a little bushier but i'm already deep heh :D

Good stuff bro, perlite is just easy to use hey. You won't look back :)
