GD, this is where I can help....you see, when I kill clones, I kill them with water,
and I wonder if you are also giving the babies too much love.

It uses a wicking mat to bring water to the cells. I sometimes hit them with water
myself to help them get started, and sometimes an area of the tray is not making good
contact and I can see that it is beginning to dry out, then I will hit that with some too,
but all in all it does a really good job.

And the key is that I do nothing. :0)

Can you use rockwool or any hydro friendly medium in there?

i always use the jiffy-7 peat pellets in the 36 mm size inside a tray with a dome. about 3 times a day i open the tray and mist the clones and the inside of the dome.

once a day i will squeeze the peat pellets to ensure the stem has no air gaps, then spray the pellets to replace some of the water i squeezed out.

its only 20 bucks?!?! how long do cuts usually take to root?

i have some of these, but dont have a clone in it, ill try to clone with it. how long do ur cuts take to root?

S&Cs method is very hands on and would likely be the best for
someone experienced in getting strong clones.

For me the trick seems to be to set up something that will work
even if I do nothing. (LOL, it seems that my clones die from
something I do usually...too much attention/water, etc)

The Burpee tray uses peat pellets that break apart as they get moist
and they make contact with the wicking mat below. I do not think
that a rockwool cube will make this contact.

I think that with RW cubes, if you use a dome, then one can get roots
with no watering after the initial cube drench....but I have not tried them yet.

As far as how long it takes cuts to show roots, it varies a *great* deal
with the breed in question, but, honestly, I do not use the BST for it's speed
but for it's patience. It will sit there and let a Purple Wreck or a Holy Grail Kush
take three or four weeks to get strong roots, if necessary.

I want to try a hydro based cloner, and will in time.

I have tried the brown foam plugs and rockwool, but never got roots.
I am sure I did the same with too much watering.

Thats why I like hydro, if I dont get my hands on em they do SOOO much better

I have a small grow going, with 3x600W HPS in a 2x2x2 meter tent. Feeding them through a home made hydroponic/DWC.

The small, and not so great looking one, in the front is a sweet skunk automatic. I have two more of those, and all of them look the same - small in size and very dense, with dark green leaves.

Those plants look nice and large. The HPS makes the
color so hard to make out but they seem really happy.

1800 Watts should make for some dankness!

That would blow my, already deadly, power bill away! Congrats.

I am working on some mushroom species today.

1 species, two different dishes. Three pics of one and two
of the other:






They are the best I could do...it is not easy to capture
mycelium with a small/crappy camera. Different areas
seem to focus each shot.

I need to use a separate light source.

The species is P. weraroa, the magic stalked puffball.

It would be a hit to get it to fruit.

Not to worry. Not every area has the mountain peak.

My area generally does not. The Psilocybe azurescens and
P. cyanescens are from the Pacific NorthWest and the
Liberty Caps are found in England.

I generally grow fungi from samples sent to me.

FWIW, for traveling I might recommend a Mexicanae, Zapos, or Semperviva.

Good morning all.

I scoped the trichs of the maturing plants this morning.

Sour Cherry #1 can come out any time. I think that I will
take it right before lights on tonight and put the Purple Wreck
into its place.

The Ace of Spades and Dog scoped to about the same point == very close
but not there yet. They will both come down in a few days.

This will mean that AOS took 8 weeks to finish. Very good!
