Jackberry

Day 31 veg just a quick update and one pic. So far I've got 3 females and 2 pretty sure males and one no show. I was wanting 4 females and 2 males to start from this regular seed, so even if the last one is male, you've gotta take 50%. Anyway, here's a quick shot of the growing canopy, with some cups up front with rooted clones. I was blessed that 5 of the 6 rooted in the jiffy disks and the 6th is showing small roots in a jar of water. Better updates and pics to come.

This Strain is amazing! Many years ago I was a moderator on a marijuana site called Always420 and sannie had not done any public seed releases yet, he was an active member of the site and when he made his first attempt at making seeds for the public he donated 35 seeds out of 4 strains to the moderators of the site. JackBerry, Sannies Jack, Jack Hammer and one i cant remember but i grew 2 of the Jackberry females in a 3X3X5 closet and they yielded almost 2 lbs of beautiful purple smoke that tasted heavenly, In the years since I have bought several more loads of jackberry seeds, This is a very very high quality strain and Sannie should be getting alot more buzz that he does at the moment.. All of his strains are Killer! Im gearing up for an indoor setup as i have my medical marijuana card and ive also got a caregiver licence and 2 clients so its gonna be 18 Jackberry clones going in as soon as i get the lighting system and the environment ready! Cant wait! Good luck with this grow bro!

Thanks for stopping by Zepplin!

Day 34 veg. I had two males, Superman and Stretch, both the most vigorous of the 6 and both of two very distinct phenos, one shorter, bushier wide-leaved and the other a stretchier, narrower-leaved variety. I destroyed them both, but have rooted cuttings of each. Of the 4 remaining, 3 are definite female and the other remains unknown. Of the 3 for sure ladies, one is purple-stemmed heavily and broad-leaved, one is kinda purple-stemmed and broad-leaved and the othe is a bushy and narrow-leaved pheno.

I now have each of the four remaining under 92 watts each, split between 2-23w 6500K and 2-23w 2700K, for a total of 368 watts and 24,816 lumens in about 4 square feet. I'm also sacrificing a little side lighting, as I'm vegging my clones in the same space.

I just watered with plain water the past week, during transplant phase. I fed heavy today, the second full watering since transplanting to new ghetto grow bags, sitting in $1 Dollar General roasting pans to handle run-off. 6 tsp Big Bloom, 6 tsp Grow Big per gallon, per plant. I'm interested how well they respond.

Edit: I should add I started a little LSTing of all. Looks like my one remaining mainline plant will get LSTed from here out. Female and male clones for mother plants and pollen, hopefully with different phenos representing both Blueberry and Sannie's Jack represented was my goal with this indoor seed op. Now all that is left is to pull the trigger and flower the moms in a couple of weeks or so, I'm guessing and finding out which I want to work further with outdoors and indoors. Six for 6 first time cloning, with one rooting in a cup of water.

Hey Smidge do you think there is any draw back if I clone from outdoor this summer and flower under cfl? I see your clone experiment is going well:weed:. Thanks for tha rep bro.

I don't see any drawbacks. In fact, those big old outdoor plants will give you dozens of cuttings and never skip a beat.

Day 36 veg. I pulled all four out of the cramped closet and into the kitchen to retie my lst strings and examine today. Squat still hasn't shown sex definitively yet, but there is the tiniest of a flower forming between a stipule and new shoot on one of the upper tops looks thin and like its gonna shoot a couple sliver sized white pistils tomorrow. I have two short, bushy blueberry indica leaning phenos , Squat and Chubby. Unless they stretch like hell, there just won't be much there and unless they are just something super special, their clones will see their end when the moms are finished. Both exhibit purple coloring of the leaf stem and main stalk, if that even has anything to do with the coveted purple pheno, ha ha. I've read both ways. Anyway, the remaining two are both more vigorous and stretchier with a more sativa-leaning appearance in their top growth. One is completely green, with no colored stems or stalk, while the other -- one of the two originally topped for mainline -- has the most brilliant pink/lavender colored stems of them all. We will know more in a couple months, but those last two might be the keepers. Anyway, they feel about 1/4 still moist at bottom of ghetto grow bags, which is something I like -- being able to feel the soil moisture. I figure I will need to water tomorrow with plain water, which will put me at 3 days between with the new ghetto grow bag setup.

Some random pics of all four, a shot of a stalk, a shot of the level canopy and the faintest female presex flower and pistil on Chubby.

Day 39 veg. Pulled out of closet into kitchen and retied for LST. A few random pics of plants before, during and after loosening and repositioning grass tie strings. I tried to keep them in order, but from this iphone, it arranges the thumbnails random for me. Oh well, it's kind of boring waiting to flip anyway and I'm just updating. I believe it will be worth following when these start to flower. Thanks for looking.

Today is day 42 veg and also the first night of 12 hours of continual dark period. I pulled them all out and took four cuttings from each, for a total of 16, with all that take root destined for outdoor grow this season. Anyway, while they were out I snapped a few pics of the plants, some older cuttings in white cups and a shot of my fresh new 16 cuttings in dome. I figure I will update after this at the end of each of the next 8+ weeks of flower. Thanks for looking.

Day 7 12/12. I severely pruned back all four plants to 6 or so main stems and got rid of all the lower foliage. With 30 gallons of soil in a 4 square feet closet, I was running in the 70% humidity range and just saw trouble coming with mold. The plants are getting good air movement under the canopy now and I feel better about the higher humidity levels. Still, I've got to get a handle on the humidity somehow, but when you water 30 gallons of soil, that's a lot of moisture in a small space. I now have more Jackberry cuttings than I need after the pruning.

Here's a few before and after pics. Not much in the way of flowering happening yet, but I believe there will be a better update next week or the week after.

I can't wait to see them go into flower. Are any waiting to go outdoors?

The tops are really twisting up and starting to throw stigmas, so she is getting there. The four in the chamber are getting flowered now all the way to the end, but I've taken a shitload of cuttings of each for my real passion, outdoors.

I'm currently sitting at 72 degrees and 68% RH in my chamber. In the past 24 hours I've been as high as 80 degrees and as low as 60 at lights on this morning. I'm running a 50 CFM intake and another 50 CFM exhaust. I have a homemade carbon filter to use, but so far running without it, due to the low odor.

I'll grow one plant in there at a time from now on. Watering days are just gonna raise humidity levels into mold territory soon with all that soil in 4 square feet.

I believe this is day 11 of 12/12 and 3 days since last watering, so I drag everybody out to the kitchen. Problem was they just felt like they could all use one more day, so I took a few pics and will water tomorrow sometime. I also snapped a couple of the top of my hood, a view of the level tied canopy and of my grow closet exterior door.

Day 15 12/12. So, being an indoor newb and all, I learned that if you are going to flower 4 plants, topped and LST'd for horizontal growth, you likely need more than a square foot per plant or you better not veg for 6 weeks. At the end of day 11 of 12/12, I made the executive decision to pull 3 of the four and put back in veg to grow outdoors this summer and only to finish flowering 5K, who looked several days ahead of her sisters and already had a meaner appearance and smell. I realize I may and probably will change my mind after all four are finished, as to which is the pick, but it is what it is. I'll make the determination around harvest time whether to flower another cut of this pheno or try another, since it will be a crap shoot until all four are finished. So it goes I suppose.

Here's a few pics I took today. As you can see, I really spread the one I'm flowering by LST, since she has the entire space and 368 watts to herself. She is really starting to throw the pistils. Another pic is of the other three, who's sole source of UV is the window (raining today) and a fluorescent light until 10 pm or so to force the plants back to veg. Hoping it isn't too stressful on them.

I learned too Smidge. Indoors you need a room to do some real flowering if you veg for more than 3 weeks..lol. Joking but my noob ass almost vegged myself into a bad situation. Luckily I wasn't caught up with vegging for x amount of weeks. Think I had to flip around day 16 of veg. Lol oh well live and learn atleast you got a veg room!

lookin' real healthy Smidge...I've been eyeballing Sannies seeds for a bit now, and it's just a matter of time before I order some...Seems like nothing but good reviews with his gear....I've been looking at his Sugar Punch among others.
