First grow! Total beginner Journal!

Technically you dont have to suspend any light ... mine arent ... they all stand taller then my cups and pots ... and can be raised and lowered ... the key is they are 4-6 in away from your plant.. your set up looks like a pro grow so nice job

Technically I did not say they HAD to suspend the lights...I know it must be hard to absorb simple facts but just because it works dose not mean it is optimal..In my opinion and experience it is more beneficial to suspend the lights directly over as light spreads in a 360 degree pattern in which the highest light saturation would be directly in the center point of alignment...Therefore if the light is suspended directly above the most significant light saturation would be directly below..I tried not to get to technical and make it simple enough for SOME people to follow..If you need and are able to follow a more technical graphic chart of this I will post...or you could technically use common sense...BTW CFL bulbs lose lumens extremely fast...there for having it at a distance greater than four inches is not very beneficial..so Technically this is no where near a "pro" setup as stated..every CFL bulb is too far away...Yes I did say the setup was much better than the original but i didn't say that it was ideal..I was fried and tired and did not feel like going into detail at the moment..I didn't know I was going to be Technically criticized for saying it looked much better or I would of waited...so please work on lighting arrangements and I will help you from there if you would like..just trying to help you out in getting optimal grow conditions and I apologize for the rant on your thread...

The one cfl is fine when she's so small. My advice-set the light so its around 4 inches from the top of her,get a small fan blowing, and leave her alone for two days. After that, check her and raise your lamp according to growth, and continue like that, checking every two days and watering every four,so every second visit.I know its easier said than done but looking at your plants won't make them grow quicker but fucking about with them at this stage can easily kill them.Just let her be.Very best of luck!!
This is good advice, despite what others have said.. Too many times people overdo it, fucking with the plant because they think it isn't growing right or fast enough... It's tiny, it's under a cfl, it will not grow into the cfl in 2 days if it's place 4" above. That said, personally I would put the cfl closer than that (if the plant can take it) and check the height daily. Anyway, looking good. My only advice would be relax with the water, you have a couple of pics up where the soil looks overly moist. are you watering from the bottom? You need to watch out for damping off with a plant so young. Good luck.

Looks good, lots of people are growing nirvana now, I've already seen three threads in the past minute or two.

Hey guys, I did a few things. I raised the plant so it would get more light. It looks like the leaves might be curling a little bit but I don't know if I'm just being paranoid. Also the temperature was at like 86ish today which has me worried. I can't attach any vents from outside or anything and the box is in a small closet. What can I do to keep the temps down?

86 isnt the end off the world but I dont feel like two of the three lights are doing you that much good. Shut two of them off for now and get the light close to the top of the plant, that will lower the temperatures. That in my opinion is the best move...they wont need more light till it is 4x that size. Is that the total grow area that you have?

I added those two lights because they're 6500k and the top one is 2700, and I heard that mixing them is good. Also I plan on taking it out of the Grow Box when it gets too big and letting it stay in the grow closet. The box itself is in a small closet.

Like I said this is my very first grow and I'm still learning, I just really want this plant to do well haha.

Today makes day 6 since planting the germinated seeds (so 6 days from planting, about 8 from germ.)
Right now in my box I have 95 actual watts. 40 watts 6500K and 55 watts 2700K.

She is on a 24/0 light cycle. No dark time.
The temperatures range from 75-85 degrees F (the windows are open during the day sometimes).

She hasn't been watered in three days, and will get a watering tomorrow on day 4.

I've seen plants that are much bigger by day 6, but she is only about 2 inches across right now (from leaf tip to leaf tip).

ALSO I'm living at school, so I won't be home until friday to make changes, if any are needed. I'm having someone at home take care of it for me otherwise.

Hey guys, day 8! I'm worried. Parts of the leaves seem to be a bit curled. Not all of it, but little pieces. It's been growing a decent amount though. I'll post some pictures. I watered yesterday so I can't check pH for a few more days. Last time I checked was around 6-6.3 but I'm using API drops meant for a fish tank so maybe it's wrong? The whole leaves aren't curling, but some pieces are curling down and maybe some up. Please take a look at the pictures and let me know what you all think.

What's the temp in there? I know when the ridges of the leaves start pulling up like that it can mean that the plant is basically trying to sweat/respire to cool down.

Its been hovering around 79-81ish. But the website I got the seeds from said that they do fairly well in higher temperatures anyway?

Hey guys, I switched out some of my bulbs for three 20 watt 6500k CFLs. Total of about 3500 lumens. The temperatures have been staying around 72-78 all day. They're around 5 inches away from the plant. Last water was Thursday so 2 days ago, I usually water every 4th day. Her leaves seem to be still curling in random directions, but just the edges, and not all of them. She didn't grow much from yesterday either. Is this ok?

heres some pictures I just took, day 9:

Little growth if any at all since yesterday. And the leaves seem to be curling down. I have yet to get a humidity meter so I think it might be low humidity? I'm gonna go out today and see if I can find one at lowes. I sprayed the walls of the grow box and the plant with water. I'm going to grab a socket splitter today and add another 23 watt CFL on, 2700k. Temperature has been around 71. Check out these pictures:

Looks humid in there to me.. Looks like your soil is wet and the leaves are covered in water. They will perk up again. There are some strains that will droop after a watering and perk up again within hours. Patience is key. Don't worry too much about every reaction they have. They want to live and grow! Good Luck.
