Still smells

I thought did the right things to get rid of the smell, Bought a 4" inline fan with tallboy carbon filter from Htg supply, still had the smell, seeing as the fan pulls out 170 cfms, I thought maybe it was not letting the particles stick to the carbon so bought a rheostat to regulate the speed of the fan, started at high cleared the house of the smell but wreaked outside where the vent was so I worked down to low side of low & it still wreaks out the vent. The system is only a month old, the filter boasted 12 - 18 months of use before having to replace it. If I remember correctly I think it worked fine for a couple of weeks when I first hooked it up. Any input would be appreciated.

How big is the grow? Perhaps use it to scrub and put an inline ozone generator on the exhaust to finish the job. How many feet of exhaust run to blend O3?

Hmmm....where does it smell? Seriously. In the output stream or in the room?

I am sure the booster fans are not any good. The physics are all wrong for primary use. They are meant to boost an airflow after a corner or the end of a long run to keep the flow speed up.

I really doubt you are getting 170 cfm. I will bet a tall boy needs 600 cfm. My carbon can is 3 feet tall and 8" across. I have a 6" axial fan at 600 cfm for that.

Then I use the speed controller to adjust the flow down.

Can you feel a flow with the back of your hand at the carbon face?

So, if you mean you can smell it still outside the room, get a bigger puller on the carbon. You need more air tansit.

I've had this filter for almost 3 years now. It still works fine. Room is a bit dank, but no where else.

only 2 plants, acapulco gold is the strain, about 2 feet from filter to fan then about 6 feet from fan to exhausting outside, room is 3' wide x 8' tall x 8' long

smells in the grow room, outside where it's exhausting to (lol under the eave next to the front door) suppose to be a bathroom in the basement, sometimes in the house.
The tallboy s about 2 1/2' tall and about 8" in diameter, not sure about being a booster fan, it is a grow bright 4' inline fan w/the tallboy filter combo.
All I can tell you is the fan boasts 170 cfms & I do have a speed controller and yes I can feel a flow with back of hand

I would recommend an ozone generator, the one I have is pretty crazy, but i ran that and that alone in a 10X10 filled wall to wall with plants venting directly outside towards the front of my house with no carbon filtration. I had zero smell issues inside or out, confirmed by countless sources, only time there was smell was if i turned it off, i could notice it in the house after an hour or two of it not running. Pretty sure this thing is a bit overkill that I have but I would consider it worth it if you are having issues and that is a concern for legal reasons.
