Help with a watering solution

Hi,

I've been thinking about ways to make my watering schedule a bit easier and would really appreciate any advice you can give. I'll explain my current set up and needs.

Very small scale grow . 4x4 tent, 600w hps. I switched to coco from soil about a year ago with good results. At the moment I'm handwatering from a can, which means preparing and phing every night as well as dealing with the veg tent. The plants love it but it's getting a bit too labour intensive.

Any solution would need to be fairly quiet. I was thinking something gravity fed but tbh I'm not too sure.

I'm off for 2weeks and would really like to get something set up. Hobbys not been as fun as normal lately.

Use a larger 30 gallon mix tank. Install a 3/4" bulkheas fitting in the side as close to base as you can without leaks. Set tank up on cinder blocks for gravity or use a pump. Connect a shutoff valve, hose and watering wand. Now your rocking.

It's ok. We all have our moments. That's probably why we fit in here.

I don't ask for pay to advise personal growers. If someones gonna get rich off my knowledge and skills I'd be at least mildly retarded to not make a slice.

Tank, watering wand and still hand water would be a hell of a lot easier. Was thinking about trying to drip feed.

I think coco takes a top drip feed well and it would allow me more free time. Have you heard of blaumpkf(sic)? I remember seeing a drip feed system they made that looked suitable.

This complicates matters imo.

One could use drip rigs but timing would be the issue. Basically a timed top feed drain to waste. Since plant water consumption is variable this is less than ideal solution. There are moisture sensors but they corrode and maintenance becomes an issue.

Have you considered an ebb and grow type system for the future?

Fairly new to coco but I thought you were meant to keep.it damp at all times. I allowed soil to dry but I water daily just now with good results.

Can.I ask.what pythium is?

Trust me. Lol dont all good ones start that way. Letting your medium get so dry your plants almost wilt before watering heavily is the way to go.

but you cant have it on a constant drip can you? even at a slow pace it wouldnt allow the coco to dry and breathe. is there a way to make the drip tubes only active at certain times? automatically? I mean of course it is but without spending bookoo bucks on a mini sprinkler system controller

When you do water you need to do it slowly or in increments or it all runs down the sides and out the bottom.

You want water to run thru the medium and out the bottom as this slows salt buildups. Flush coco with pH adjusted tap water every three weeks, following immediately with feed.
