If you grow it is a bench mark, It is a pride issue.
Good point-- from a grower's perspective, getting the most potent weed has more to do with getting your technique dialed in than purchasing a killer strain....i think you are over estimating the thc content of what most folk have available
25% is at the highest end, most phenotypes of a given strain rarely hit 20% when tested
many advertised around 20-22% fall around 15-18% when actual samples from growers are tested
You are so right about the tolerance break. A good portion of those hungry for the highest potency may in part need it because of tolerance.i think the thc values are not so important the best high i find is gained by a good long tolerance break and some bud picked around the 6-7 week mark
True, though the abilitiy to home grow has become far easier in recent years, and I expect it to get only easier. Many states are decriminalizing (if not legalizing to some extent) and the federal government seems a lot less interested in small non-commercial grows, so the risks are less.Nice post, Nitegazer. Totally agree; reminds me of my college days where hard alcohol of choice was always based upon what could get you fucked up cheapest. I have to contend with #5, though. Not everyone has access to concentrates or the ability to produce their own. As this is a grower's site, though, #3 mitigates that argument anyway.
I suppose I would prefer pot that gets me high and has no flavor to some that has lots of flavor, but doesn't get me high. It's a matter of degree-- there's a limit to the amount of potency that I want, but no limit to the amount of flavor and aroma (and even color) that I'm looking for.Great marketing actually. Tastes awesome, doesn't get you real high. Smoke more, purchase more, come back and repeat. Years ago a friend of mine stopped by my store saying how "it's all about flavor my brother" It did taste great, didn't touch the high of my white widow I was growing at the time. He says, $100 per quarter. I say no thanks.
If someone can get the money and people are willing to pay it. More power to 'em.
I wonder if it's partially an age issue-- I'm in my 40s; maybe that makes me 'delicate,' lol. How old are your friends?I recently asked 2 close friends I have been sharing my extras with the following question:
1. If you had your choice between tame smoke that tastes and smells awesome or knock you on your ass bud that tastes like dog shit, which would you choose?.
Answer without hesitation, the dog shit.
Same as you and I, in their 40's.I wonder if it's partially an age issue-- I'm in my 40s; maybe that makes me 'delicate,' lol. How old are your friends?
LOL, lightweights. The Slate article is fascinating, I guess there are a lot of people wanting less potent weed!
