Homemade CO2 generator god or bad idea?

Made two co2 generators from hot water, yeast, sugar and some plastic tubing ran it to a fan that blows right above the plants. I've heard the obvious benefits but many people claim it has its downfalls but won't give me specifics. Can someone help me out?

It's a god idea.
I read in a different thread about just putting some yeast sugar, and water in a gallon jug.
Poke a hole in the lid, and shaking the jug when you visit your grow.
I have made home made wine, and mead, and know fermentation like this produces co2 over time.
Supplementing a small grow area like this can last for several weeks.

The Co2 yeast thing is a adaptation from aquarium growers and someone thought the same would apply to plants in atmosphere...

...I asked a real chemist about this and he told me in water the margins for CO2 and other gasses disolved in water are narrow...
not so given the volume of a not so air tight 4x4x7 room filled with atmosphere...

So basically yeah a small 2L bottle of sugar/yeast/CO2 helps marginally, maybe even in the vicinity, but in the bigger picture its a expensive way to make CO2

Thanks for emphasizing that.
Indeed, that is why I said it would be helpful in a 'small' grow area.
In a medium to large area, it would have no effect at all, especially if the air exchange fans remove the small bit of gas the bottle would produce.
I do not hassle with any added CO2, I have always had success using the natural CO2 from the fresh air that comes into my grow from my intake.

How much sugar would you have to use i wonder. I needed two cups when i made wine like this.

^ You can dissolve the sugar into jello, refrigerate and use it like that....this will slow the reaction somewhat and give ytou a slower/more even rate ...

but I dunno, I keep thinking in anything larger than a 2x2x2 box the effects can't be all that

In that case, a jug of yeast prolly won't help you at all.
Your plants look like they are doing good with the air coming in through the intake.

6 cups? that sounds expensive seeing as how you have to change it out when the alcohol content gets too high.

brews are a waste of time/money...
Why do you say this? Have you ran any tests on cannabis? I use these teas on many of my fruit and vegetable gardens and ran tests and notices significant difference in overall earth and fruit sizes. This could obviously vary w cannabis but if done right I can't imagine it harming plants

i thought we were talking about co2. do this; do a before/during/after test of the co2 levels in your grow space using brews. you'll see what i mean...

It really dont cost that much to do. A packet of yeast costs about a buck, and you can make 4 jugs out of it.
Sugar and water is not expensive either, and an empty milk jug is free.
Might make a difference if you use 4 jugs at once in you grow.
Especially if you shake the jugs up right before lights out. (if you have less air exchange cycles at night, like i do)

It seems like a lot of hassle to me, I am happy enough with the co2 in the air.
.. but if you wanted to get every added gram out of yields, it may make a difference.

Do some research before participating ladies...These diy co2 set ups should be used by all small grow room users...they do make a difference when done properly...one thing over looked in this thread is, included in your formula you MUST provide food for the yeast and sugar to feed off of...that's how the it continues to work over time...multi vitamins added to your mixtures would help many see better results...give it a try again with a little more knowledge

I am talking about co2 I've used it in my also indoor fruit and vegetable gardens I have 10 put co2 in 5 and not in 5 and def noticed a dif so I thought they would help my cannabis as well but was interested if anyone has tested w cannabis seeing as I only have one of these gardens so I can't test myself yet
