ACA enrollment numbers

It's a Humana, and it sticks out as an aca plan, from what the guy at walgreens told me, because of the group name.

It's "Knoxville PPOx" which pretty much is the name they gave their marketplace plans in this area. So people in the know about health insurance, see the card and know straight off it's an Obamacare policy. If your employer uses Humana and you have that insurance, the name will be different.

Each state regulates the insurance industry, walgreens might be taking marketplace plans in Florida, but they were not in Tennessee as of early Feburary.
if that's true I would bet a racist republican is to blame

And let me just add this. I'm not saying that the ACA is bad. I'm saying that mine is fucked up. This is a big complex system, and it's new. And the way the federal government works, I'm sure they overpaid minority companies to do most of this work to be "fair" instead of competent. They will get it straightened out eventually.

I tried to buy insurance before the aca outside of employment. I was 29 at the time, no pre existings, good health. It was absurdly expensive. Something needed to be done and I think the aca is a good thing, not great but probably a step better than what we had. There are just some kinks to work out I suppose.

The real answer that matters is this: of those who aren't getting something for nothing, how many are going to join and thereby subsidize all the medicare types, and the pre existing condition types, etc? When I was 30 years old, the thing furthest from my mind was health insurance. To be told that I had to spend $300 or $600 per month at that point in my life would have had me smoldering mad.
It is doubtful that any 30 year old will pay $300 dollars. The insurance premiums are graduated by age (and in some states tobacco use). No one is "getting something for nothing", they are getting insurance.

I got a silver plan. Good luck finding a place that accepts aca marketplace plans.

Walgreens, perhaps the nations largest pharmacy, told me they don't take aca plans.
You are best off finding out what network the plan includes before you purchase - don't you think? Besides, you can often get your generic meds cheaper if you don't go through insurance anyway. I will wager that wallgreens will begin to accept the plan as they find that they are losing business.

Odumba care is worthless garbage plans.

$6600 deductable give me a break...
Were do you get $6600 deductible? the oop is only $6350. Another misinformed person, my deductible is 2k. This is why I started this thread, in order to see if anyone had actually done the research or if they just relied on others to tell them what it was like.

Now hang on, the guy is correct that for some reason at least providers are cutting separate deals with insurance companies over their ACA policies. I don't know why, I don't understand it. I think I mentioned that I didn't really care about having the same doctor, but it would be nice. When I checked networks and providers, my provider said directly on their web page "we accept no ACA plans but Health Net". I checked the Health Net offerings and they were ok, but the insurance company got very bad reviews. I waited and lo and behold, my provider and Blue Shield cut a deal. Blue shield's initial price was $1200 or so, but before I got onboard they reduced the price to $1000. I've been watching and it seems that insurers are slow on the uptake here, or they started out high expecting to make a few more bucks, or perhaps test the waters with other companies.

I never thought to check pharmacies but I DO know I can always get what I want via mail.

Fuck, I wish I had one plate. I'm sure if i went out of my way to find something I would never need, it might pay for something. But out of the one doctors office I use, and the dozen or so pharmacies I've been to, I can't get it to work.

Got my doctor to get something called a prior authorization from my insurance, they agreed to pay for my medicine.
correct..depending on your insurance company's formulatory more often than not..you need to get permission for advertised brands even if they have a generic and there is a sliding scale on what they will pay..so say you have a drug which just went newly generic..like me..the co-pay is not $5..it's a certain percentage. however, if you want to use a similar drug's generic that's been on the market, they will encourage you to use it so the co-pay is $5..that's how they entice you, through the co-pay..so i pay $18 instead for generic..still much better than the $400 brand/$300 new generic..
Great!

Off to several different pharmacies.

"we dont take aca plans"

"we don't take that particular aca plan"

"we don't accept that group number from your insurance company."

"sure, we take your insurance!"

Insurance comes back and says they won't pay that pharmacy.

I couldn't design a more fucked up thing if I tried.

Obama is black, no wonder this shit don't work.
it's insulting to say this and i'm mad at you for saying this..if it weren't for him, i would have no medication currently as i haven't received my student loan funds and have $2 in the bank. BNB you are better than that.

this is correct and i'm annoyed insurance companies are getting away with it..when i called coventry, i found out they specifically segregate policies through icons on your account..it is the only icon segregating ACA from others whether individual or group. i plan on reporting this to insurance commission..ACA is not inferior in any way and we shouldn't be treated as such.

Each state regulates the insurance industry, walgreens might be taking marketplace plans in Florida, but they were not in Tennessee as of early Feburary.
i can't believe you're having such a problem..when i went to publix the first time there was some "glitchy" thing at first..they made a quick call and fixed it and voila!..i've also filled at CVS since and no problems.
I did that. When my normal pharmacy couldnt take it, walgreens was the first place I went. I walked up to drop off and said I have Humana insurance, I need a rx filled, can they do it. The guy said no problem. I hand him the rx and my card, he tried to run it through, and it didn't take. So when I came back to pick it up, and it wasn't ready, I asked why.

Apparently the marketplace humana and normal humana aren't the same, and there is distinguishing names on the card where they can tell. He pointed it out to me, and said were not taking aca plans right now.
there is something way wrong about this and i'm going to do what schuylaar does best:mrgreen:
I am having a hell of a time finding a pharmacy that does. When I finally found one, my insurance said they wouldn't pay that pharmacy. I've never heard of that.

They told me I had to use cvs or Walmart. I've been to both with no luck.

Ive never seen anything this fucking messed up in my life.

I chose an HMO (always have had PPO in the past) because my doctor was on it..I'm very healthy just need expensive meds, so the hmo seemed a good choice..

when checking out, i noticed no provision to choose my doctor and phoned Coventry..i was told that there was an issue with link and that it would be fixed by january 11th..so after the 11th i could log on to conventry's site and just elect to choose my doctor..i did as instructed and what do ya know? that's right! now my doctor was no longer in the directory.

now they're trying to say he was never on the list:mrgreen:

i do so enjoy a good fight with those i despise.

PS..since i had not elected a physican they (coventry) chose one for me..a pediatrician:lol:

Call her back and ask her if they will take an aca humana policy. If they do I will thank you!

Keep in mind what I actually said. It is a contractual issue. They had not as of feburary worked out any contractual relationship with aca insurance. It had only been in effect for a month at that point.

I have no doubt that eventually I will find it more user friendly. But at roll out they were incomplete.

Keep in mind due to chattanoogas proximity to Georgia, you could easily get location in Georgia, but within what is considered the Chattanooga metro area. Try a city well instate, Nashville would be a better choice.

why is everyone such a debbie downer?

i thought bible beaters and conservatives are supposed to love their fellow man?

like anything rolled out 1.0 version it's a given there will be bugs.

end of story. embrace it..the aca is not going anywhere, so you're better off learning the ropes and workarounds.

I'm 30 years old, got a silver plan, and it costs me about $200/month, with some subsidy.

The silver plan is way way way better than bronze. And it is just slightly more.

My situation is probably so screwed up because of the medication I take. It isn't an average run of the mill prescription. If it were something basic, like a Prozac or celebrex or something like that I could probably get it taken care of.

The one thing about it that floored me was the pharmacy that I went to, that carried the medication I take, and would accept my insurance, but the insurance company wouldn't work with them. They were an independent pharmacy, but a member of good neighbor pharmacy. So far they have been the only one with my medicine that would take my rx.

But seriously, you're right, I shouldn't have said that one thing I said.

We don't have publix here, closest one is like, 50 miles from here. Have you had luck at any other national chain?

You'd be surprised how downright intolerant and mean those bible thumpers who are supposed to love thy fellow man can be.

There is a story I saw on local news about a place not to far away in Virginia about just how loving those Christians can be. These types of christians consider me a heretic because I think the earth might be older than 6000 years.
Shit, I'll just link you the story.

Doris Thompson says the school principal sent her a letter that reads in part, “You’re probably aware that Timberlake Christian School is a religious, Bible-believing institution providing education in a distinctly Christian environment.”

The letter also stated, “We believe that unless Sunnie as well as her family clearly understand that God has made her female and her dress and behavior need to follow suit with her God-ordained identity, that TCS is not the best place for her future education.”
