What's up everyone?!

After a brief hiatus, I am back and getting ready to begin my second grow. I had a lot of success on my first go around using the rubbermaids, and I have to be stealthy about it, so I've decided to go ahead and use this method again. The first time through, I used the LST method and absolutely loved the process. This time around, I'll be taking it a step further by using the SCROG method. It's still all new to me, so it'll be a learning process for all of us. My first grow I used some bagseed I got from a good batch I picked up. This time around, I'll be getting seeds from Nirvana. I'm planning to get Blue Mystic Feminized seeds and a batch of Short Rider Autoflowers (for use down the road). This grow I'll be growing two of the Blue Mystics.

Just wanted to get this thread started. While I'm waiting for the seeds, I'll be posting pictures of my setup as I get it ready so if anyone wants to copy my methods they can. Hope to see some of you following along!

It's a Blueberry/Northern Lights cross. Should be really nice and simple. It naturally grows low and bushy so I have a good feeling that it's going to work really well in a scrog grow.

I'm going to be starting the building process tomorrow and will be posting a decent play by play of the process.

What's up guys? I'm pretty sure that I have almost everything I need to build my rubbermaid enclosure. I'm hoping to have this thing built by the end of the night tonight, but who knows. When I do end up building it, I will be taking pictures of each step so if anyone wants to copy this setup, they can. For now, here is a list and picture of the materials I got for the build:

2 - 45 Gallon Rubbermaid Bins
2 - 10" Diameter Pots
4 - Cans Spray Paint (2 black, 2 white)
3 - Surge Protector Strips
1 - Light Timer
3 - Computer Fans
2 - Packs 14" Zip Ties
8 - 42w 2700k CFLs (For Flowering)
5 - Outlet to Socket Adapters
5 - Y-Socket Adapters
1 - 12' 1/2" PVC
2 - 1.5" PVC Elbows
1 - 2x3 Garden Fence

I'm still waiting for:
5 - Blue Mystic Seeds
5 - Short Rider Autoflower Seeds
10 - 26w 6700k Daylight CFLs

The build is pretty simple. I will paint the inside of both tubs with all the black paint, then cover the black with white to reflect the light back into the plants. I'm hoping that the black paint (all the paint, for that matter) will keep the light from shining through the side. I want this to be as stealthy as possible. Once it's painted, I will cut holes for the three fans, another two for the passive intakes, and punch a few others to feed the zip ties through. I will be wiring the fans to 12v wall plugs to run those. For the lights, I'll attach two power strips to the underside of the top lid and using the outlet to socket to y-socket connection to power them. That's really the gist of it. Once I get it put together and have pictures, I'll post a more thorough explanation of the process.

Hope a few of you take interest in this grow. I'm going to continue to make updates for my own purpose of keeping notes on the grow. Any and all advice is welcome and I thank you guys in advanced for any guidance you might have.

What's up guys? Took me a little longer than I thought it would but I finally got this thing (almost) finished. These things are a lot more common than they were when I did my first grow, so I won't go too far into detail with my descriptions.

First thing I did was paint the inside of both tubs with a few coats of black spray paint to block light from shining through the sides of the tubs. I don't think it's going to work as well as I'd hoped, though.

While the black was drying, I started wiring the fans to 12v adapters. I have three computer fans running in this, and my first plan was to wire two to one adapter and the third to another. After some thinking, I realized I wasn't going to have enough open outlets on my surge protectors, so I ended up rewiring all three into one adapter.

Next, I covered the black paint with white to reflect as much light as possible.

Next, I traced the PVCs to make cuts for the passive intakes, cut them out and sealed them with duct tape.

Next I cut out the holes for the fans and mounted them on the inside of the tubs using zip ties.

For the lights, I zip tied two surge protectors to the top and plugged an outlet to socket adapter then added a y socket. I have 8 open sockets right now, but will probably add another at some point. I also might add some LEDs on the sides for extra light.

Lastly, I zip tied another surge protector to the side of the top tub to plug the light timer and fans into. I'll eventually run the line out of the side.

Here's the (almost) finished product. I'll be adding hoods to the side to keep the light in/out. I still need to build the screen for the SCROGing. I'm having some issues ordering seeds. I really wanted to order through Nirvana because of the ten free extras. I also really want the Blue Mystic. Unfortunately, I couldn't get my order to go through and still haven't heard back from the support claim I made. I found them on Attitude but they're way more expensive and Attitude doesn't give as much freebies. I was hoping for some advice! Let me know guys!

So, I ended up getting a green dot prepaid visa. I tried making the order with the temporary card you get when you buy it, even though it's marked valid in US only. It didn't work, so I guess it's a waiting game till the personalized card comes in the mail. I hate waiting! I just wanna get this underway! I have decided to pick up a different strain in addition to the blue mystic. I'm getting the bubblicious auto. Can't wait to get started.

How much vertical room are you working with here? From top of pot to top of Rubbermaid? Thanks.

So, after doing a shit load of reading and considering a bunch of different options, I've decided what soil blend and nutrients I'm going to use for this grow.

The soil blend will be:
1 Bag FF Ocean Forest
1 Bag FF Light Warrior
3-4 tbsb Dolomite Lime
25% Perlite

The nutrients that I've decided to use are:
Veg - Jack's Classic All Purpose 20-20-20
Flower - Jack's Classic Bloom Booster 10-30-20

I'll also be using some organic teas to feed the soil and adding some sugar and molasses towards the end of flower to try to bulk up the buds.

What do you guys think about this?

FINALLY!

At last, after many failed attempts to get the order in I have finally successfully ordered my seeds from Nirvana and received a shipping confirmation. I ended up ordering 5 feminized Blue Mystic seeds and 5 feminized Bubbleicious Autoflower seeds, plus they threw in 10 mixed seeds as an extra goodie, which makes me a happy camper. They should be here in the next week or two.

My enclosure is just about finished, but I am considering adding a layer of mylar to the entire inside of it, or using an emergency blanket to accomplish the same thing. Any of you used an emergency blanket before? before?

During my waiting period, I've been reading about a bunch of new techniques that I plan to try this grow. I'm feeling pretty comfortable with the SCROG method, and I plan to use UB's Topping method as well. As far as I've read, you can cut above the second node to get 4 big colas, or above the first true node to get 2 colas. I'm probably going to do 4 on one plant and two on the other to see which one produces more. I will try my best to situate the colas directly under my sets of lights so they receive the best light, then I will fill the rest of the screen out with all other branches. Should work out pretty nicely.

As of right now, I plan to start feeding them around 3 or 4 weeks @ 1/8 or 1/4 strength and see how they react, then I'll make adjustments as needed. I do have one other question, when I make the switch from veg to flower, is it wise to do a flush for a week or so before starting the bloom booster? Or is there another good way to transition into the flowering nutes without stressing the plant too much? Thanks for any advice!

What's up all?

Just a little update, as of right now I'm still waiting for my seeds. I'm hoping to see them one day this week but who knows. Enclosure is pretty much done, I will post picture of it soon.

I've been reading nonstop and I'm pretty sure that my whole plan has changed. I was reading about main-lining all day today and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to try that instead of the scrog method. The major difference I see is the way I cut and train the plant as well as using a canopy ring of sorts. Because of my enclosure, I'm going to run a few wires the length of the rubber maids and use those as a canopy support in order to accomplish my desired footprint.

Since I haven't gotten much action on this thread, I'm considering starting a new one in the clf sub forum.

Hope all is well with you all.

Peace & Light

This is awesome because i myself just started my second grow 48 hours ago using rubbermaids in the same setup mostly.

and yes! i used a emergency blanket and its kind of a pain if you cut it wrong cause it tears so easily but if you do it right... 2 or even 3 layers of the blanket on without paint or cardboard lining the walls or something because one blanket is not lightproof. you dont have to hassle with other materials or spray paint it or anything if you use 3 blankets (emergency blankets are like a dollar) i just used it because i had it laying around. one blanket is not enough though, to make it lightproof.

excited to see how this grow turns out!
10 seeds in dirt atm myself.

have you any ideas for a carbon filter or anything?

My main thing is to keep it super stealth, which means i dont cut holes anywhere except for just one light trap and fan hole cut in the bottom, as in underneath the rubbermaids, basically sucking up all the coolest air in the room and simple. nothing protruding from the rubbermaids themselves, keep it quiet and keep it odorless. Which is obvious, but my question is, do you know of a way to filter or make it odorless without any exterior things protruding from it?
