Hollowed stems are a desirable trait imho. a cylinder can support more weight than a solid object: think physics class. my .02
One concern would be topping it and having disease/pests use the area as a vector. Have never seen this nor heard of it. perhaps a hollow stemmed plant is telling us not to 'attack' ie. fim, lst, etc., other than to clone. Personally, i find no difference between seed and clone, meaning if seeds were available at a reasonable price and were consistently of good quality i could happily grow from seed until i'm composted. Perhaps i should pollinate a landrace down the road and do just that. Germinate, 12/12, 7 ft african beastettes. Seems kinda simple. Forgive me, I'm getting old and my mind wanders. Just a thought.
