When to Switch to Flowering

Hi

I think this question has probably been asked over and over again but I cant seem to find any information on it.
If there is a good thread please post the link and you have my apologies.

After doing some research I found that going by weeks is too vague and pointless.

So what are the characteristics that should be looked for before flipping the switch to flower?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Canopy planning is key. The time to switch to flowering is when it looks like after "the stretch", the canopy will be full and even.

The hard part is figuring out what plants will look like after they're done with "the stretch". This comes with experience.

Each strain also reacts a bit differently too, so it takes a bit of time getting used to how it will react when you put it in 12/12.

If you're 5 weeks into flowering and you have giant holes in your canopy, you didn't veg long enough. If you're 5 weeks into flowering and your plants are overlapping too much, you vegged too long.

Thanks for the info.

The strain is Afghan skunk. The problem is that some of the plants have grown really bushy and the heights are really uneven . I have rotated and spread them out, put the shorter plants in the middle so they can grow. I read somewhere that when the white hairs come out they should be switched to flower.

My questions is whether the white hairs should be prioritised higher then getting an even canopy?

The tallest plant is around 45cm tall and I don't really want them to grow any higher in veg because of the stretch in flower.

Thanks

The best answer is your own statement. If they are where you want for size issues flip them. The reason for the various sizes are probably different pheno's to an extent.

sup groz…. I grew out 2 afghan skunks from advanced on my last run… i topped, lst'd and fim'd,

the stretch was about x1.5…

with regards to white pistils, it would be unusual to get white pistils in general until about a week after flipping to 12/12….

like if you kept them at 18/6 you won't be getting pistils… if you are stepping down to 12/12 gradually then you may start to see pistils…

i flipped after 5 wks due to height restrictions but then after seeing the stretch it was a concern i should of had..

post some pics, as you can work on the canopy before flowering begin…. peace...

Actually you can see pistils in veg, it's a sign of maturity and it tells you that your girls are ready to be flipped.

I'm guessing you've never vegged long enough to see this, either that or you like giving newbies wrong info.

Either way the flip is really up to you, if you have space veg them out and get some weight. Only one way to learn :)

don't forget to count the first day of flowering to be when you first see pistils, i didn't so had to wait longer for harvest which was only days from when i was to go on vacation…
