Mother Plants Yellow Fans Leaves (Nitrogen def???)

Every day I remove my 2 Donor plants out of the tent and, whilst their sister have 12 hours darkness,
I place them in the window to provide extra photosynthesis and prevent flowering.
The others are on a Wilma Irrigation system where the feed water constantly recycles
but these 2 donors are simply placed on a tray, in the tent, with a cm of the feed water.
When they're out of the tent they don't get anything.

Temp and RH are acceptable.
EC and pH are fine.

Is this yellowing of the foliage due to the roots being stood in water?

plant is feeding off its self. Feed it more nitrogen calmag. How long you have them in those pots and what size are they?

The pots are 6.5l (clay pebbles)
the plants are about 60 - 70cm high.

They've both had cuttings taken off them twice.

Their sisters (receiving constantly recycled feed water on a Wilma system)
are in the same size pots of hydroton and seem fine.

upgrade to larger pots. your not even using 2 gallon pots if my maths right. Not to good with liters or EC im a gallon ppm guy. The difference is the other plants are recieving 12 hours of darkness and in blooming stage. The roots grow more in veg so your in need of a upgrade since girls are getting big.

I agree booms111.
6.5l is shy of 2 gal. For a 60cm mom (~2ft) perhaps a 12 l or 20l would be in order (depends whether you are going to let them get bigger). I found the Air pots great for moms. The uk has a mfg/distributor so should be no problem getting one for you. They are a little tricky to water at first until the roots are established. I used a watering pot that made a rain-like stream. They work great as they prevent root 'spin-out'. I did a controlled test of airpots a while back. I found they had an over 25% increase in veg. I used identical cuts: some in nursery pots and some in air pots. I was very impressed with how well they sped up veg time.

The yellowing is probably just a sign of a need for a higher N food. Something in the range of 3-1-3 or even 9-3-6 will work. Even 10-10-10 or 20-20-20 would be fine.

Other than that they look fine to me.
Hope that helps North of England.
Grow well.

I grew my last crop in 18l pots and there's not much difference in the plants size or bud weight.

I believe that hydroponic systems don't need large pots.
But I could be wrong....

smaller pot=smaller tree=smaller rootball= smaller buds=smaller yield=smaller harvest=smaller cure=smaller tokes=repeat=

sorta true about hydro. thing is your plants are moms though which changes it alittle. easiest fix since there moms giving you alittle trouble is to just take new clones for new moms and bud out your 2 existing moms.

Vostok is bang on. Root mass matters regardless of medium. Guys growing trees in RDWC are using 'pots' as big as 180l/50gal. Mind you, these are big trees yielding 2+#'s per tree, standing 6'/2m tall and 4' wide. I came to understand that the plant is, in many ways, merely the 'expression' of it's root mass.

Doesn't anyone understand hydro on this site?

Soil = big roots = big plant = big yield.

Hydro = smaller roots = still big plants = big yields.

Are you seriously all going to tell me that the guys growing in 6"x6" grodan cubes need to be growing in 18"x12" grodan cubes in their hydro systems?

I see a possibility of 3 issues here NoE.

1 could require more nutes as yellowing does look a lot like N def.

2 The lack of light they're receiving for 6 or so hours per day could mean that the lower light is having detrimental effects on the older leaves.

3 Did I read right? They're not in the hydro system, instead are passively pulling up nutes from a drip tray? In this could lie your problem.

When they're in the tent they're stood in a plastic tub (the bottom of a rabbit cage) and run off tends to gather.
In mid-May I hope to buy a 3rd Wilma system - a 10 or an 8.
Then ALL my girls can enjoy correct irrigation.

In future with mothers you may want to grow them in a slower medium. Such as coco or even soil.

Mothers don't need to grow as rapidly as vegging plants.

As long as their lighting and nutrients are being met then they'll be happy enough.

So are they being irrigated every hour or so?

My guess is under watering slightly causing N def.

Hourly irrigation....?
No irrigation.
a half litre (out of the nearby res) when they're returned to the tent, on an evening.

I'm planning on learning about soil/coco.
It was due to me wanting to avoid fickle rockwool for seeds and seedlings
now you've provided another reason to do so.

Mid-May I'll buy some supplies (hopefully).
