NOOB SEEDLING QUESTION

I just put 5 critical kush beans into root riot cubes in my tent 4-5 inches away from a 125w cfl with an oscilating fan at the top of the tent. My question is do I need to turn my in and out fans on? I've got a humidifier and can boost the humidity to 90% then turn it off and the humidity stays high, also i have a device to measure co2 and can get the co2 up to 1800 ppm then keep it there as the fans are off.. Will this be ok until they pop? Do I need air exchange at such young seedlings? If it is ok when should I turn the fans on?

Anybody help? I'd prefer to keep the fans off for a while so I can keep co2 and humidity up easier but not sure if that is a good idea in case the air has to be exchanged?

Depends on what fans you are referring to. If you mean the oscillating fans on the seedlings, I turn them on pretty early as this strengthens the stem. If you are talking about inline fans for cooling and ventilation, depends on your temps. Since you are running CO2, temps can run slightly higher.... keep that in mind. BTW.... 90% humidity... seems kinda high to me.....

ok I have an oscilating fan on I'm talking about the in and out fans.. I'm only adding co2 by breathing into the tent I have a plug in device that reads co2.. I will try to get more co2 equipment later.. The humidity has gone down to 80% temps are 81 lights on 71 lights off.. Am I ok to leave fans off for a while? When would you advise turning them on? Temps are ok as I'm only using a 125w cfl for seedlings

dude your fan will be your friend in the long run. It will help make the stock strong. Its gotta do with the tearing the cell walls and them rebuilding them stronger. On my grows I have fan on as soon as i the first jagged leaf.

turn that shit on and keep it on
mine never goes off from the moment its on

Out fans... depends on the temp you are comfortable with. For now they are a little high... but still ok.

I wouldn't really worry about CO2 unless you are in a HUGE grow area..... which you are not. So breathe away...LOL...may even sing as I heard one person say...LOL

With regards to humidity most think that 40 - 60% is good for vegging.... for flowering you want to keep it lower to avoid mold and other fun stuff.... 35 - 45% IMO... some will tell you different.

if u read my post properly you'd see i do have a fan on I'm talking about the in and out fans..

Ok thanks alot if i leave my fans off and breath in the tent for 5 mins i can get it to around 1600 ppm then it will stay that high for hours. I'll keep an eye on temps but I'm doing critical kush and summer is approaching these seeds are meant to cope with hot temps so hopefully they'll be fine.. Main thing is how long until I switch to my 600w dual spectrum bulbs and when should I turn the out fan on?..

I think you maybe too worried about the CO2.... as long as it doesn't fall below 250 you should be ok. In the area your meter is indicating, you will have somewhat faster growth. Once your seeds have popped, there are a whole bunch of other things you will need to pay attention to besides CO2 which occurs naturally. Since your seeds haven't popped, you really don't need lights.... or fans or anything.... heck... some may not even "pop"... I hope they do though! When they do... get back to us!

If all else fails... remember that these plants want to live.... we are the ones that kill them... usually with kindness....

Good luck!

Cool thanks. I'm only controlling co2 because i can when the fans are off the seeds are covered so they won't see the light until they pop. But when they do pop is it ok to leave the fans off to control humidity and co2 or should they be on from the beginning?

man I did misread it my bad. Sorry
I always thought you wanted to have lower humidity with seedlings and what not
only clones need super high humidity.
I've never worried about humidity on my seedlings just on my clones seems to work for me but I've only got a few grows under my belt

This seems overly complicated for seedlings, keep it simple, and if you intend on growing with cO2, you are gonna need to scrap the CFL, there will not be enough luman output for the cO2 to be beneficial.

So I guess it would be cool to ask a question of my own and highjack your thread???

It seems like you are getting plenty of response here

I am just pointing out web etiquette....

Time to do some reading.
Clones don't need high humidity, it will retard rooting time. Search this site for 'Al B. Fuct', his thread does a very nice job of explaining a very effective cloning method. He's bang on with respect to rockwool (should only be watered to 4-5x it's dry weight).

Again, reading helps. A lot.
Just a thought.

II'm not that fussed about the o2 i just want to have enough humidity as i heard young seedlings need high humidity..
Once it pops I would lower the humidity. The seed likes high humidity to pop but once they have high humidity can cause it to dampen off. This is where it pops and grows very little for a couple of days and falls over or something to that affect. High humidity in the seedling stage is what causes this from my understanding.
