yes small plants. i do 60 to 90 day veg big plants. 4 in a 4x4 area max maybe 3. I dont want those little 1-3 gram top buds i want buds/colas. with the quality. with 2 190 watt a51 all white i could do a 3x3 area perfect 4x4 is pushing it.

1 of the threads i follow is using 2 a51 190 white led right now. 1 didnt cut it. so get 2 and grow bigger plants.

11 day veg, over 6.5oz 190w.... Are you really going to argue with me about that? LMAO I've grown forearm and bigger sized colas. Looks impressive and yeah they carry weight but.... not necessary. All that matters to me is dry weight and quality and I can say for as much as the XGS can produce and I think I have a little more to say on this seeing as you are going off what you think you know and I'm going off what I've watched unfold in front of me. So yea it can do 1-2 plants tops.... LOL


And before you or anyone else gets all upset. All I'm getting at there is that plant number doesn't matter. That isn't a size. Bunch of little plants and no veg time or fewer larger plants with long veg time. It's variable so to say a light is only good for so many plants is really a useless way to measure a lights efficiency.

I'm saying that 190 would do 1 of my plants which are 5 ft tall. most dont grow that big. for me 1 light at600 is the way. if you are growing 3 ft plants sure 2 under the 190 is good. my 180 led does 2.5 x 2.5 which covers 1 plant with good par if yo lollipop. Its all about par and penetration. I think the 190 a51 is a good light just buy 2 for a 3x3 or 4x4

Agreed. And Yeah I'm no where even close to the size of the plant you grow. My plants typically finish up around the 2' mark or so. So yeah I'm going to have an XGS 190 and a RW 150 in a 2x3.

yes with those 2 in there you will grow dank. its par and you will have it. just remember to rotate them daily so they get a mix of both perfect. you cant go wrong with the new a51 all white led it rocks jsut know its par per foot value. those lights are so powerful they have to stay higher so the par drops so you have to overlap them 25% to get the good par ratio. the at600 is 2k with coupon code it takes 4 a51 190 to match the par well it beets it but then you have 4 lights cables ect. that isnt a bad thing encase 1 fails. just stick with what works. I'm still sorting the lights out. I love my 600 hps but the heat is insane. i think i need a good air cooled hood. i do need 1 a51 190 to go with my 180 led to mix with my hps in 1 room then 1 big led for my other room.

I grow huge fucking plants too man, I need to use 2 240w LED panels on each of my plants because they are so gigantic, this plant is under a 2 foot t5 and an LED and this pic was taken about 3 weeks ago its about 1 foot taller and 2 foot wider.

I think my XGS 190 does a great job of covering a 2.5'x3' area at 18" to 20" above the plant for flower in my 3'x3' tent.

I just watched my plants development on a 3'x3' screen and could tell it was lacking on the narrow sides of the panel at the edges of the net after about two weeks so I added some Cree bulbs to help out.

I think most companies exaggerate their coverage and Jeff probably doesn't want to listen to any negative crap so he understates his coverage.

Yea the XGS did fine, but.... I want to see if I can get 3/4-1lb with around 400W LED. With the Onyx it would have been a little over and with the RW a little under 350W total. If I could pull a little over 6.5oz with the 190 in coco I think in DWC with some screens and the 150 added I should be able to pull off 12-14 maybe more if all goes right. That's what I'd like to see anyways.

I followed the link about the Onyx allegedly overheating and found this:

"So I've opted to not return the 2 onyx that had some sort of glitch that made the thermal shutoff circuit shut them off within moments of powering up.
Mike at Rapid has advised me we can still trade them out with two new ones.

Even still, I am having a hard time choosing between the XGS-190, RW-150, and the Onyx Bloom.

having 4 onyx bloom i have to say that i am impressed with their performance, they have excellent penetration and seem to have the plants making crystals more then i used to get with hps...the only neg i find is the coverage...to address this in the flower tent i simply placed mine on an angle to spread light, but this is not practical for my smaller veg tent.

i had the same glitch and dbkick but all lights are working very well now...

I think all three lights are great. I think I'm liking the RW better than the XGS. The plants stretch out a little more. So seems like the flower growth was more similar to what I was used to seeing under an HPS. the XGS stays a little more squat and compact. I've got to do more to really say, but it seems they are about equal in performance, though the RW uses about 40W less.

With the RW, you could reduce some stretch if needed by keeping the reds off for the first weeks of flower reducing power consumption. You could even turn them off every second day until stretch is done. When buds start to form hit them with the full power

Well, I ordered the Onyx Bloom and it is now in place of my 400w HPS. It's a whole lot smaller in size then my old HPS & hood. The amount of light it puts out is impressive, although the footprint is smaller than the old HPS. I hung it it about 20" above the canopy. The little unit gets hot. Hot enough to not be able to hold onto with a bare hand comfortably. We shall see how it holds up!

The reason I choose an all white spectrum is because I believe it is the closest to what plants grow under naturally.

With all due respect to those who already own them, if you are in the market for an LED I would advise to stick to those mentioned in this thread. The SolarStorm claims 620W power draw. After driver/fan losses that is down to 525W of LED dissipation. Also, they are using mystery LEDs so guilty until proven innocent, I estimate the LEDs are only 20% efficient at running temperature. Cost is $1800 so that is $3.42/W.

The Onyx Bloom is only $2.15/W and is over 30% efficient. The Apache and A51 are just over $3/W and also over 30% efficient. So the California Light Works is not competing with these lamps.
