There is no definitive answer. Too many variables. I typically tend to just say that it's swings and roundabouts. Soemtimes it will help, other times maybe not.

As to the practice though, that is indeed right. Just google/youtube LST. With regard to the plant, it looks to be stretching lots. Try and get your lights closer.

Yes and no. How that is tied down is the way to do it. When you tie it down or LST (low stress training) what you are really doing is training the canopy to be the same level. It's basically scrogging with out the net.

It will usually actually grow smaller buds, but more of them than a single cola. Looks like that someone tried to tell you about LST, low stress training, several threads about it in the forums, plenty of examples.

It's bent too far near the top, point is to get the plant horizontally. Anyway, the plant doesn't look too happy, I suggest forgetting about trying to get bigger buds and lst and just try to grow a healthy plant.

make 'U' around the plant.. tape the loose ends with some duck tape to the sides of the container. if you are using fluorescents or CFLS you can keep them 2-3 inches from the canopy. let your plants dry out completely between waterings that is my biggest advise to anybody.. its a balancing act though... point is the longer you let it go dry without killing the plant the longer the plant will build more roots..

If you want to do some serious growing you can get going for like 500 bucks you could easily be getting 150 grams every 2-4 months (depending if you get a continual grow going where you have plants ready to flower as the previous flowering plants are finished). I would use this plant as a learning experience.. maybe try topping the plant too along with the LST.. you will notice how the plant bushes out.

save your money for the real setup. it will pay for itself after just 1 grow.

you can get away with 2-3 nutrients even though some people use a dozen or so.. the plant needs nitrogen, potassium, and micronutrients (5-0-4 or 3-1-2) for vegging and needs a good balance of nutrients for flowering. (15-15-15 or maybe 15-30-15 or lower strength works too 5-5-5, 5-10-5) most plants like a steady source of calcium and magnesium throughout the grow too.

miracle grow works. its not the best but if thats what you got then it will work. don't expect killer buds your first time if you are going to cut any corners like being on a budget. it is worth the time because you can learn a ton. anyways welcome to Ripitup! i mean rollitup! lol

Thanks, bro... If you could possibly go look at my latest post about what's in the nutrients (miracle grow) and please let me know if its good or not. Much love.

Is this the correct way to topp your plant?
